| Apoquel Has anyone had any problems with this this medication? Michi bad been on it just for 2 days but I notice he doesnt want to eat his food and seems extra tired. Although it has really helped the scratching (which was out of control) I'm just worried that while treating and helping one thing it may be causing another problem Also...he has been eating his poop, not sure if that is related. | My boy was on Apoquel for two years, he had no side affects at all, he was 3 years old. Apoquel will not give your dog the urge to eat its own poop. My boy makes outdoors, I have to watch him or else he will eat his poop, this was before Apoguel, during and after. My now passed girl who was never on any allergy meds would her own poop if I didn't watch her, so poop eating has nothing to do with the Apoquel, it's the nature of your dog. Out of my 4 females only one was a poop eater (her own). Just watch him, don't allow him to eat his poop, clean up as soon as he goes.

| Michi would occasionally eat his poop (or try to) before also but not often. Just seems like the past couple days he is trying to eat it everytime he goes. I keep a close eye but he is indoor pad trained so sometimes I dont catch him on time. I'm just a lil worried about him not wanting to eat, thats very unlike him. |

| Give him some pineapple that should help with the poo eating. My girl has been on it for a few years with no side effects.

For poo-eating, feed a grain free food and try Solid Gold's SEP (Stop Eating Poop)...worked immediately for us when Wylie was a pup.

| You could try cutting the dosage of Apoquel in half to see if that helps. Our shepherd is supposed to have a full pill per day, and we have reduced that to a half pill per day and are still able to keep her scratching under control. I would prefer to under medicate than over medicate.

| Monroe has been taking it for a few weeks now and I haven't noticed any side effects. It's been amazing for her itchiness... now that you mention the appetite thing though, it's the opposite, and the first time she actually has a good appetite (eating all of her food... knock on wood). Like others have said, I'd contact the vet to see if it could be the meds or possibly something else. Also, Monroe would try to eat her poop as a puppy and with consistent correction she stopped this behavior pretty quickly. |
