| Primal vs Steela & Chewy's Raw Which one is better or do you like better? Primal Freeze Dried or Frozen Raw? or S & C Freeze Dried or Frozen Raw?

| When we started Gracie on raw a few years ago we used S&C 's. I decided to try Primal and had a hard time getting her to eat it even mixing it with the S&C. Personally I prefer to buy S&C 's because the ingredients are sourced from free range livestock. They don't use the mass produced livestock that most pet food producers use that have been kept caged and have been injected with hormones, steroids, antibiotics, etc. S&C's use free range chicken, beef, and fresh caught salmon. Some of their meat is imported from Australia and other countries where free range livestock is more readily available. So much of the US food industry has been bought up by large corporations that function only by the bottom line. One of the problems with typical caged American livestock is that when the meat is cooked or dehydrated those injected substances that have collected in the flesh over time become more concentrated so the pet is getting an even larger dose and over time can effect their health. If a pet company does not want to talk about where their ingredients are sourced or how they are processed I just stay away. Gracie has forced me to investigate more aboutpet food because of her particular eating preferences and I have found she is usually right. |

| I forgot to mention that my dogs love both the frozen and dehydrated form. I always rehydrate the dehydrated form. The frozen is much less expensive per pound if you can buy it locally. Shipping frozen is outrageously expensive. The nutrition is the same either way. |

| I like Primal. I love that they do not use vitamin premixes: Feeding, Transition and Safety for Raw Dog Food Diets They have a frequent buyer program, if you buy it @ your local specialty feed/pet store. Pros to freeze dried: 1. Pups LOVE it. 2. Easy, convenient, great for travel, as it doesn't need to be refrigerated. 3. Handy to have a bag around..when I forget to thaw the frozen! Cons: 1. It's a little more expensive than frozen. 2. There's fewer proteins available. 3. Takes about a min to prepare, to rehydrate in water. The pups can get VERY impatient & they will let you know. LOL Pros to frozen: 1. Pups LOVE it. 2. Costs a little less than freeze dried. 3. Comes in 1 oz nuggets or 8 oz patties. 4. Lots of diff proteins to choose from. Good if you rotate proteins. Cons: 1. If I forget to thaw it (& it happens), pups can go hungry. So I always have a bag of freeze dried. 2. Not good for travel since it needs to be frozen/ refrigerated. So always have a bag of freeze dried.

| We feed Stella and Chewy's freeze dried Chicken dinners, and have for some time. When we made the switch, Kaji's checkups improved, and since we were able to control his weight better on this than with kibble, his LP is a lot less aggravated. He never has complained about his LP, but I could tell at his heaviest that he would limp. He's fluffier now than he use to be, which I guess can count as an improvement for a soft coated yorkie? I'm counting it as a win anyway. (He's just so fluffy!!!!) #1 benefit of S&C, Kaji loves it!!! He would like new foods for a few weeks, then it was a struggle to get him to eat his food. Not with S&C. He eagerly wants his meals now. I do feed the freeze dried for the ew factor vs the frozen patties. I don't re-hydrate, I just break the patty up in his bowl, and he gobbles it down. It's easier to clean bits out of his beard too. The raw patties would get stuck in his beard.

| We just started our two 12wk. puppies on Primal. They absolutely love it and they are so happy afterwards. We have the bag of FD. We plan to get the frozen next week and then making it ourselves. With the help of my Yorkie FB group and much readings and research, I feel that raw is the right and natural nutrition for our Yorkies. ~ Rhea |
