| Ear cleaning What do you guys use to clean your dog's ears? I was thinking of using an apple cider vinegar green tea with chamomile peppermint tea and lavender diluted with water combo that Dr. Becker recommended to use as a spray for your dog, to keep yeast to a minimum. Is that a bad idea? Thanks for your thoughts and comments. |

| I use Vet Solutions ear cleaner that has a drying agent. Teddy tends to get more water in his ears in the bath, so I usually use it on him afterward. I don't pour it in the ears. I just dribble a little in with a q-tip without putting the q-tip in the ear canal. To keep ears clean, I use a flea comb daily on the hair in and near the ear canal. This removes debris and loose hair, keeping the canal from becoming clogged with hair.

| I prefer to use what vet recommended which is epi otic. Does your dog have yeast issues?

| I don't know if my dog has yeast issues. My dog has yeast in his ears, but all dogs do, it's part of natural flora. My dog doesn't smell like corn chips, or a brewery, which is what I was told are signs of yeast over growth. But I would like to not let it come to that point. |

| Do you guys pluck the inside hairs of your dog's ears? this was recommended by the vet and what the groomers do for our dog during his grooming. |

| 1/2 white vinegar 1/2 water. Its what our vet highly recommends for just cleaning at home. Epi otic was used at our clinic but they always suggested vinegar and water for cleaning at home because it works so well. However ear cleaning isnt necessary unless the ears are dirty. Its not recommended to clean them just because. As this can cause problems when there wasnt one to start with. Im a groomer and for plucking - its only if the ears are packed with hair preventing air from getting in. Because a little hair doesnt hurt and again, plucking when not necesary can cause irritations. My yorkie is almost 10 years old and has never had to have his ears plucked or cleaned he gets groomed regularly and i look in them all the time. But they have never needed it Last edited by Farleys; 08-20-2016 at 04:01 PM. |

| My vet recommends it. Hair holds onto moisture which can cause yeast or ear infection issues and it can making looking in their ears harder. My little allergy baby has floppy ears so I make sure to keep hers plucked but I do it myself. With my little boy puppy who has standing ears and sparse hair I have chosen to mostly leave him be. It's not suppose to hurt them.

| Thanks. They don't look dirty to me but I might not know what to look for. They don't look red or irritated I know that. I'll try cleaning them once and if there's no dirt I'll stop and recheck in a month. |
