| Brushing teeth. I'm curious. Does anyone on here attempt to brush their pup's /dog's teeth? Or am I being over the top in doing so?

| Not over the top at all. The earlier you start the better. Brushing is probably the most effective dental prevention you can do.

| my boy is a good brusher, my girl absolutely despises it. I am trying to at least do a water additive for her and put tooth gel on her. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I've never been a teeth brusher but honestly, you should - so get them in the habit young if you can. Another thing to try is to put something flavorful on a toothbrush and see if they gnaw a bit on the bristles, kinda brushing their own teeth...

| Grooming habits are easiest to teach to pups. Genetics plays a big role in determining dental health, but brushing helps reduce tartar buildup and helps keep the gums healthy. The gumline is where problems start since dogs do not get cavities like humans. My dream would be to train my boys as well as Sugarmama did her girls to accept the Sonicare electric toothbrush. Sugar (RIP) had really bad teeth and oral disease, but the Sonicare helped tremendously and Sugar was able to go longer between vet cleanings. Save

YT 500 Club Member | Yes, start brushing at a young age. Ruger gets his brushed everyday. He doesn't like it but tolerate it. Love the CET Vanilla & mint. I started brushing at about 12 weeks. It was a battle. He's better with it now at 17 months. At his 1 year check up Vet was very pleased. No dental scheduled yet!

The Sonicare -- I know, super impressive! Wish I could find Lisa's video of her doing it. It's too funny! My guys think I'm trying to kill them when I attempt to use the Sonicare on them. They are more than happy to offer themselves up for ear and paw trimming with the mustache trimmer instead. That is how much they hate the electric toothbrush.
