| Spay and baby teeth now or later? Hi all. I have a called my vet to ask this question and am waiting for a call back but I wanted to seek your expert opinions as well. Originally, my vet suggested that we wait until after the first heat cycle to spay my girl Harlie because of recent research with larger breeds. Harlie is 10 and a half months now and no heat has occurred that I am aware of. She has at least two baby teeth that will need to come out when she is spayed. The two teeth are her lower canines (I think that what you call them). She has both adult and baby teeth there so it looks like a double row of teeth. So my question is - do the teeth need to come out asap for her dental health and so I should go ahead with the spay now? Or am I ok to continue to wait until her heat cycle for the spay and the teeth will be ok? I'm leaning toward getting the teeth out. What are your thoughts/experiences? |

| I had Blossom spayed a couple of weeks ago and 3 baby teeth removed.I don't know if it's the same every where but here it's more expensive to have a dog spayed after they come in heat so that might be something for you to consider. |
