| Sick Yorkie. Need Help! Hey everyone, I have a 5 year old silky yorkie female and she has been sick for two days now. The wife gave her some baked chicken a couple of days ago and now she is very sick. Yesterday her stool was soft like pudding and she also threw up. Now, I just got home and she had diarrhea everywhere. There are no more solids coming out of her. It looks like it could be a mix of blood and diarrhea now. It is dark like a burgundy wine. We gave her some pumpkin and she ate that. She also drunk a lot of water. Her urine is lite yellow. She is still alert and she wants to still move throughout the house. What else to do. All the Vets in my area are closed. |

| I am way down here in Houston Texas....I looked up and found 3-4 Emergency 24 hour vets open in your area....I would have my little dog at one of those emergency clinics before she possibly bleeds out.....these little dogs do not have a lot of reserve and your baby has already been sick for a couple of days.....hopefully, this is not life threatening, but she needs to be seen by a vet ASAP. |

| Poor girl. I would go to the 24 emergency vet right now. Could be pancreatitis, hemmorhagic gastroenteritis, or another serious digestive illness. These little dogs can go down fast, and she has already been sick for 2 days.

| I was thinking pancreatitis at first too, but the dark red blood may mean obstruction too. Could have eaten a bone and maybe pierced her insides. She needs to be seen by a vet asap. You could lose her. Please keep us updated.

| Gastroenteritis Is what she was diagnosed with. The doctor believe that the chicken she ate, irritated her stomach. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I just want to say - thank God you did go to the vet bc this could have been pancreatitis or worse and been life threatening. She absolutely needed to go to the vet, and you came thru for her...we don't always see that in people here. Thanks for getting her the care she needed !

| So glad she you figured out the problem. Speedy recovery! Did the vet offer medication or other remedy to help her through? |

For chicken, be sure to stick to plain chicken breast, nothing added. We steam ours, but you can boil or bake it.

| Hey everyone, Chanel is doing better. She is still chipper and alert but also in a little pain. The medication that the doctor prescribed was "Metronidazole". I have to give this to her every 12 hrs.. She definitely doesn't like to get this administered to her. It was a battle both times. I rewarded her with a little pumpkin at the end. |

| Baked chicken is very greasy, if you want to give chicken as Maximo suggested, boneless chicken breast cutlets ONLY. I boil mine, there is no grease in cutlets and all dogs LOVE it. Thank you for updating us.

| I agree. That's what the doctor said. Boiled skinless chicken breast and white rice. |
