| how long can i wait? HELP! i've noticed over the past few days Titus doing the "scootchie scootchie" dance and have read on this site that he probly needs his anal glands expelled. He is only 11 weeks, is this to early for this behavior to be happening? I definelty don't want to do this on my own and he already has a vet appointment on the 24th... is that too long to wait? He seems to have been going #2 fine, just does the scootchie scootchie after (even though there is nothing on his bum) and every once in awhile. I need help quick to find out if i can wait till the 24th or if i should take him somewhere right away. He hasn't had all his shots yet (that's happening this next week) but can you take him to a groomers even if he dosn't have them all? HELP!!! |

| Seems to me he might be a little young to need his anal glands expressed...but then - who am I to know about that! Also sometimes pups (even older dogs) get poop stuck on their bottoms - which we wash off, etc. But, anyway this can irritate their little behinds and they will do what your dog is doing. And, scooting around may even cause further irritation. And, I am sure some people might mention worms - but my vet told me that that would be at the very bottom of his list. We tested - he was right! Good luck! Carol Jean |

| scootchie scootchie the "scootchie scootchie"dance is usually a sign of worms as well. i wouldn't wait too long especially if he is a little pup. not sure what type of worms because i think all kinds will cause the scootchie dance. |

| MY pup was also scooching when he was really young. My vet said that was normal due to the irritation on their bum. I constantly wipe with a warm baby cloth and I cut the hair around his bum so that nothing gets stuck. I wouldn't worry unles its constant scooching. Just check to see if there is clogging and keep the area clean with a warm soft cloth.

| Probally Worms When We Got Our Puppy He Had Worms And Did The Scootie Dance And Marked Up Mt Carpet. It Cost Me About Thirty Dollars At The Vet. My Best Advice Is Not To Buy The Over The Counter Stuff But Go To The Vets It Works The First Time And It Will Be Cheaper. I Doubt It Is Anal Glands I Have Never Heard Of A Puppy That Young Having Problems. Keep Us Posted |

| yes it was the glands Just thought i'd leave a quick update that yes in fast Titus needed his glands expressed, so apparently puppies this young can have that problem. We just got back from the vet and he's got a clean bill of health and only one shot left to get! also he's growing like a little weed, he's now 3.6, so has gained over a pound in one month! Thank you all for your advice. |

| I had to have Hayleys expressed at about that age too and have to once since then and I think they need it expressed now, so yes puppies this young can have problems with anal glands. I just wonder if that means we are gonna have problems a lot with this I hope not
