| Small bump that doesn't want to go away? My little one has had a small bump that won't go away for a while now. She's had it since around September & she didn't have it till after she got her hair trimmed & got a check up for a vet. I was thinking that since the groomer said he just trimmed her with scissors & she's very squirmy that she probably got cut because it's happened before. Or it was probably where they did her lab work at when she got her check up. She usually has itchy skin & she usually scratches around that area so would that stop it from healing? But I think I've gotten the itchy skin under control with a good shampoo & allergy medicine. It's located on her upper back/side The bump is very small & it doesn't seem to bother her when I check on it & there's a small scab on it & it won't bleed (not a lot just red spots) unless you bother the scab & I just started cleaning it with peroxide & ointment & it's just really worrying me so much because when I google it it shows up things about cancer :'( & I'm stressing & worrying myself to where I feel sicker than I already am |

| It's going to happen from time to time, bumps, scratches. Hard to see how bad it is or isn't with the photos. Don't worry too much about it... certainly monitor it, if it gets way worse, a trip to the vet might be in order. Just a guess, it may have been a tick or other bug bite, it itches, the dog scratches, it gets inflamed, it heals with a bump in the skin.... it itches, dog scratches, gets inflamed.. just one of those cycles.. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Most likely, it's not something to worry too much about...could easily just be a follicular or sebaceous cyst, which are common. Could also be the beginnings of a localized pyoderma infection or "hot spot", in which case you'd want Muciprocin from your vet to get rid of it.

| Put your mind at ease and have the vet check it out. As Wylie's Mom indicated, might be something that a med from the vet is needed.

| It could also be an ingrown hair. Uni has gotten a few of those. She's also had a few follicular cysts. I had a few of them biopsied a few years ago and they all came back the same, so now I know what to look out for and if something else comes up then I will have the vet look at it. But those first few biopsies are more peace of mind, and not cheap.

| Cody had a mysterious small bump on the lower part of his back off to the side of the back, not the middle of his back, that formed a scab, I took him to my vet, she scraped the scab off, she said it appeared to be the beginning of a wart, she gave him an injection of Convenia under the area where the bump was and froze that area. Follow up in 3 weeks. Over that 3 week period where she froze that area a scab formed, I did not give Cody a bath for three weeks in fear of the scab coming off, I wanted my vet to see this. On his follow up the scab had loosened up and was easy for the vet to remove it, and what do you know, the bump was gone. It is now 3 weeks ago, I check his back every day to see if it is growing back, so far it has not. (in case ppl that have or had dogs that had warts the old procedure was surgery to remove, my now passed girls had warts and this was the way they were removed. Appox. around 2011 my last girl had a wart growing near her nose, my vet was using the freeze method, 2 or 3 treatments spaced a few weeks apart and the wart was gone and never grew back, I have had this freeze treatment from my Dr. for growths on my face, it is now being used by vets, are ALL vets using this procedure? that I cannot answer). A vet visit is a must to determine what this bump is. There are treatments once your vet determines what it is. Put your mind at ease PLEASE see your vet.
