| Colitis So sorry your baby has this ailment. Could you ask the vet for Prescription food specially for this condition, certainly until your dog is feeling better? |

| I don't know how long this has been going on or what has been done; but if this is a recurring thing, I would think further diagnostics might be in order.

| I just went back and briefly glanced over your previous posts....looks like this is an ongoing issue. What diagnostics have been done?

| Well, after I posted, I just looked briefly and saw the following posts where you mentioned loose stools in one and a sensitive stomach in another: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/4367077-post1.html http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/3960069-post8.html To me it looks like something has been going on for at least a couple of years...maybe off and on, but something. Again, what diagnostics has the vet done? It might be helpful to get a diagnosis Iif there is one...(if not, then RX food would not necessarily be needed) and then figure out what food to feed. Just a thought.... we have quite a few members with yorkies who have IBD. I personally have 3 who are on diets for it.

Yep...your little one needs a diagnosis - otherwise you're just throwing darts without a target. How old is she? Has she ever had a health issue of any kind...? Giardia? Anything?

| Colitis? In her first post the OP does admit her dog has had some sensitive stomach issue ongoing. She said the recent vet diagnosis is colitis. Agreed, it would be important to know what tests or exams were done to come to that conclusion. The past issues seemed to be sensitivity to certain commercial foods. Until there is a proven diagnosis by test evidence, I see no reason not to give the dog a Prescription food for sensitive stomachs. Is colitis not a real diagnosis, I thought it was but I could well be wrong. Look forward to hearing what tests were done and what your vet suggests for future tests. |

I said that the pup needs a diagnosis. Food sensitivities is what the OP thought. It is not based on scientific evidence. I don't honestly think we are here to prescribe...merely share our experiences and make suggestions. Certainly the OP can ask about Hill's ID but I still think she needs to speak with her vet about testing as it appears this pup has some ongoing issues. At least in my mind she does....hopefully the OP will speak with the vet about that.

Perhaps this will help: Learn the Signs and Treatment of Colitis in Dogs | VCA Animal Hospitals Diagnosis: IBD, lymphangectasia, cancer, EPI, ... plus many others... .. all needing testing, not just observation of symptoms

| Colitis Thank you, i will read your link. As for your admonition about again mentioning the GI food, I am sorry and will be more careful in the future. |

I don't know why you think you are being admonished. This forum is one of mostly lay people giving opinions. Just because someone posts something in opposition to you has nothing to do with you....they are posting to answer the question(s) posed based on their own thoughts/experiences.

| Misty has never had any health issues. The thread I posted about sensitive stomach is she is sensitive to certain foods so I was trying to find the one that was best for her. She was on wellness then I went to blue buffalo that didn't help cause her stools were not as solid as when she was on wellness. Now I finally got her on wellness simple small bread again cause they just started making the small breed recently and she's doing good on it. So now she had diarrhea so I took her in and he said colitis he gave her metronidazole and send her home but if she doesn't get better or still has diarrhea then I need to do further test. But he thinks she got into something she shouldn't be eating. He said to give her the antibiotic twice a day for seven days And that's what I'm doing.
