| Do you rotate/ switch up food? I'm think I'm going to start doing this (I already do to some degree, I often change up flavors and brands). Feeding canned sometimes, dehydrated raw other times, raw occasionally, kibble when traveling, etc. Are there any downsides to this? She's had no problems switching brands, flavors and between canned and kibble (not a fan of kibble). Could switching between raw and canned cause problems though? |

| I don't know, but I've changed or am changing to Fromm Gold, which has four, I think, varieties they suggest you can rotate for variety. I also feed real chicken fresh carrots etc. I like to keep kibble down for free feeding so he can eat when he's hungry. He is 7#, not tiny but small enough.

| Weruva and Party Animal wet foods also have a lot of great different flavors. Zignature has kangaroo and is a great brand! I like Fromm, like you, and also Nulo canned food as well, I wish those 2 would get more creative with their canned flavors also! My dog has an iron stomach so far, so I might well give her some choices, lol. I also give veggies, but I have been reading about oxalates, so from now on will avoid raw leafy greens. Thankfully, she loves carrots, broccoli, and peppers. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I rotate different proteins, yes....duck, beef, chicken, venison. And yes, you can most definitely rotate btwn raw and non-raw too, as long as your dog doesn't have individual sensitivities to doing that (none of my 4 do).

| I am far from an expert on this but I would think as long as your baby does not have any bad reactions it is OK

| I've never rotated as a regular thing but if I was out of chicken and had beef that's what I'd give them. I don't really see the need for rotation of proteins but mine do like variety so I change it up once in a while if I feel like it.

| Just dont start something you do not enjoy doing, or anything that is too detailed or complicated in case someone has to take over for you (in the event of your illness, etc.) If you start out routinely feeding like you are the short order Chef at a restaurant, with a wide variety of different choices, multiple brands and flavors, you pup is going to develop a taste for variety and change, and you are headed right into a pup that dictates to YOU what and when and if he is going to eat what you have selected for him that day! Starts out being rather cute having your dog dictate what he will be having that evening, but that often gets to be a problem! Good luck with your plan, hope it works well for your schedule and your baby! |
