Yorkie Talker | medicines for my dogs (and cats!) any suggestions? Hi, guys! I am a mother of three cats and two dogs. so taking them to a vet every month for deworming costs me arms and legs. (their medicine schedules are different) I've read something the other day that there are online pet pharmacies. My friend tried 'petbucket' and she seems like she is satisfied with the product and service. I put an order at petbucket a couple weeks ago, but I'm not sure whether I did the right thing. (I think I'm gonna get the package in a day or two) I didn't compare the cost with other sites before ordering, not to mention that I'm not sure about the quality of the service from there. I'm just wondering, has anyone tried petbucket or any other online pet pharmacies? any recommendations for this newbie? |

| I had posted great information about using Frontline Plus as well as Ivermectin for heartworming....I do not have that information at my fingertips, but it is on here someplace.....You can pull up J.R.Enterprises on the computer.....he sells it on line and tells you how to divide Ivermectin to give for heartworms....as well as Fleas with Frontline.....there are vets today that offer this information to their patients that are on a tight budget.....years ago, that is what we used, didnt have all the choices we have today, and the meds were not destined to break the bank....vets would give customers that needed "consideration" and a little help, a break on their heartworm med and flea meds....some still do today....but these drugs are often what they call "the bread and butter of the practice"....this guy at J.R.Enterprises gives you the formula to use for Ivermectin and FrontLine....that is what large kennels and pounds and shelters use because it is so cost effective when broken down like he instructs. I have been doing this now for quite some time....it just got cost prohibitive to use a vet office for my heartworm and flea preventative and these two drugs can be given to cats as well.... |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I have not heard of pet bucket...but they look pretty decent. I have personally used Aussie Pet, Pet Shed, and Joes Pet Meds...all out of Australia.

Yorkie Talker | thanks for letting me know so many options! Quote:
I've tried Chewy.com for years and just switched to Petbucket.com. because the latter option is cheaper. - not to mention that benefit of free shipping I've just got my package delivered this afternoon, so I'm gonna try them on my kids(pets) tonight. if it's not a replica, I think it's not gonna cause any serious problems. (one of my friends bought replica and got her dog severe allergic reactions; thanks again!

Yorkie Talker | you're right. Quote:
yeah, it costs so much money to visit the vet's office for everything. Thanks for your info, too

| I hate seeing stuff like this. My vet does not charge like it seems so many do. They keep the prices of flea and heartworm prevention very low because they don't want people to purchase something that is not safe. I SO respect them for that. I also don't need to visit them for every single little thing....often a simple telephone call is all that is needed. My vet always returns phone calls and prescribes whatever is needed IF it is not a problem that needs a visit/exam. Surely there are other vets like that?

Yorkie Talker | you're so lucky :) Quote:
My vet seems to overcharge me for everything when I see the prices on the internet or discuss this with my friends. I hope there are more vets like yours.

| Maybe you should look around at other vets?

| I have used several vets in my area and I can call them and they will return my calls give advise and so on but I get no discount on meds. for my own animals. My rescue on the other hand does. I just placed an order on Petshed.com for Frontline for my cats. 50% cheaper than Petsmart and Petco. Frontline is the flea med. of my choice for my cats. I will see how this works out. I am reluctant to order Heartworm or any other meds. online but I know people that do and they have been happy. I would like to hear more about others experience especially with heartworm meds they've ordered online and also the risk. I can tell you that I will be comparing the Frontline when it comes in and if anything looks funny it goes back!

| I just recently found out about Petshed.com and did a price comparison on Flea Meds. between them and 1800Petmeds. I was going to open a new thread but searched and found this one. I knew there would be YTers with knowledge.
