flat looking worm in stool So i went to store yesterday and got the right kind of food and shampoo for my two yorkies. They have slowed down on the scratching and just when i thought things were good with them, my smallest yorkie, i am guessing she was the run of the litter, had a flat looking worm in her poop this morning. I want to take care of this right away, but do not know what kind and how much to give her to de worm her. please help!!!!

Worm Sounds like tapeworms to me and it is possible both dogs have them, please try and collect a fecal sample and get it vet checked ASAP. If The dogs have not been wormed and are not on worm preventives they may well get worms. Not wise to self medicate until the vet has determined what the parasite is, if it is that. So please see the vet soon and get stool samples tested. Tapeworms need a special medication to get rid of them. Sorry that you are having to deal with this too. Hope your babies are ok.

You can also google tapeworm to see if it's what you saw in the stool. In any case, as dottiesyrky suggested, you should take both of them to vet asap. | |

Get to the vet right away. Worms are nasty and a nuisance. When my girl came to me she was FULL of little white flatworms. They were disgusting. The vet gave her medicine and it took care of the problem.

Tapeworms are caused by ingesting fleas, but we didn't see any fleas or have any scratching. ?? Vet said he could have eaten something outside.

Have these two babies seen a vet yet? You really need to get them in to a vet before you contaminate your entire home and yard with worms, worm eggs, fleas, etc, that they are just going to continue to re-cycle! If they are debilitated or you have a sick little runt, be very careful with store bought worming products and flea shampoos....you can make a bad situation a life threatening one real quick, especially on the "runt". Vet these two, get the correct worming and flea control started before you contaminate your house and yard and just keep re-infesting yourselves! Last edited by Yorkiemom1; 09-09-2015 at 12:43 PM.

Maximo My dog had them too some time ago. I saw no fleas and have no idea where he got the worms from. Also not many of the combination Heartworm meds contain tapeworm killers. It was disgusting, not only the poop worms but the seed things were all over his bed!! Aaaargh! But the vet soon cleared them up with meds. But this is not something one leaves to go on without treatment.
