| CYnthia Hello everyone. I am new to this forum and look forward to your input. We have a 1/2 year old little girl - of course we are madly in love with her. Recently she has started scratching herself a LOT - more so after a bath than before. I am using an oatmeal shampoo but it really is not helping to relieve her. Can anyone suggest the best shampoo and conditioner I might order to help? THANK YOU! |

Hello & Welcome .. It could be the shampoo itself that is making her itchy . Also if you are bathing her too frequently that will dry out her skin and make her itch . My boy has super sensitive skin and cannot even tolerate shampoo with oatmeal in it . I now only bathe him once a month and use a special shampoo I order from Dog and Cat Food, Treats, and Supplies | Free Shipping at Chewy.com and no more itching . This is the shampoo I use . It is soap free , alcohol free and coconut base ..It smells heavenly . | itchy skin Thanks so much for your time to reply. I bathe her every week - honestly she gets sooooo stinky at that point that I just cannot see waiting longer than that. A month seems a very long time - do you use a product in between baths to keep the coat clean and shiny -- not to mention not smelly?? I will definitely try out the product you suggested. |

You are welcome .. Honestly Oscar does not have smelly problem so the once a month bath is fine for him . The only thing I use daily is a grooming spritz I make by mixing a few drops of Vitamin E Oil in a small spray bottle filled with spring water .. Oscar is very sensitive so I can't use anything with fragrance on him | |

| Welcome to YT. I like using Isle of Dogs Shampoo Numbers 10 or 12 or IV SanBernard Black Passion and Passion Fruit shampoos. I buy the liter sizes because they are much more cost effective. iV San Bernard also makes a great conditioner called PEK. The conditioner I use from Isle of Dogs is #51. All of these products are conditioning to the skin and can be used once a week. https://www.iodogs.com/p-272-no-12-t...l-shampoo.aspx https://www.iodogs.com/images/docume...L_12.31.14.pdf Pet Shampoos : Amazon.com: Isle of Dogs Coature... https://www.iodogs.com/p-262-no-51-h...nditioner.aspx IV SAN BERNARD PEK CONDITIONER SAMPLE MULTI-PACK 3 COAT TYPES

| Welcome to YT, last year I to was using a oatmeal shampoo because years back I read it was gentle on the skin and could be used for frequent bathing. I was bathing my boy once a week, after 3 weeks of bathing he started to bite at his back, so, off to the vet we go. My vet said it was the oatmeal shampoo my dog is allergic to it as he also has allergies as well. I am now using Hylyt shampoo and Hylyt bath spray, vet prescribed and can only be gotten from a veterinarian. This shampoo can be used every day if needed, the Hylyt bath spray is a spray bath, spray it on, rub it in,towel dry then brush, this is good for cold weather when frequent bathing is not necessary, or in between baths in the warmer months. No more dry skin, no more biting himself. Oatmeal is a grain, some dogs are allergic to grains.
