| Reaction to kennel cough vaccine? Teddy had his 1st set of vaccinations on the 27th of June, since then he's been reverse sneezing now and then (something I hadn't heard him do before) I thought it was due to the kennel cough vaccine that they squirted up his nose. Over the past couple of days it's got a bit worse, so I rang the vets today, and I'm waiting for them to ring me back. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Dogs can actually contract kennel cough from the vaccine itself, unforch. So, your kiddo probably has it. You will likely need antibiotics and a cough medicine from the vet. I'd avoid this vaccine in the future. Kennel Cough is not a core vaccine, so there is no need to really get it unless, for example, your groomer requires it. We have never, ever gotten it for ours as it's unnecessary.

| Thank you, my insurance is void if he's not kept fully vaccinated. My other dog developed this after her first vaccinations also, and ended up needing antibiotics for it. I spoke to the vet today and she said to keep an eye on Teddy, and if he seems at all unhappy or it worsens I have to take him in. He's due for his second vaccinations on Saturday, so they're going to give him a good check over first. She said the vaccine can irritate their throat for a while. |
