| Legg perth disease My little Yorkie that is 11 mos old was diagnoised with this disease. I am very concerned about one of the treatments being a surgical procedure. Wondering if anyone is familiar with the disease and if anyone has experienced the surgical procedure? |

| Hi I have no experience with legg perth disease. However, I did a search here on YT and this threads came up. They might be helpful http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...im-scared.html http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...h-disease.html

| I know its expensive. But has a high rate of at least 90%+ recovery. I know a dog that had it done and the dog is like it never had anything wrong a year later. |

| My dog had this surgery between 6 & 7 months old. He will be 6 years old in November. He sometimes runs around with that leg up but overall he recovered well. There is some rehab involved but you can do it yourself, the surgery is quite costly. So far he has had no issues with his other hip. The testing showed it to be genetic. Good luck and let me know if I can be of assistance. I think others here have gone through the procedure with their dogs as well. |

| These little dogs do very well with this surgery. My girl has hip dysplasia and had the same surgery to relieve her pain. Even with the most rare complications she has done very well. No doubt, it is a scary procedure and there is some post op recovery/therapy, but you will be surprised at how quickly she will bounce back. Keep us posted and we're here to answer any questions.

| Sasha had the surgery on 3/4. She still occasionally pulls the leg up when she goes into a full sprint but is doing fantastic. The procedure and the follow up treatments and medicine cost about $2k. I started this thread when she had the surgery. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...s-disease.html
