| Nervous about neutering Hey everyone! OK I know people have posted about this before but I want to write my own because I need to get it off my chest! Hope that's OK. We decided to get our 8.5 month old neutered...and now that we made the appointment I am so nervous. Every time I look at him I feel so mean and guilty. I don't want to put him through any pain and I'm nervous something will go wrong, am I making the right decision, etc. I mean if I just make sure to never let him around female dogs that would prevent him from reproducing... We debated doing Zeuterin (as I posted about) but it only reduces testosterone by 50%. I don't know if I'm being selfish going for the full neuter, or if I'm doing what's best! Ahh! He's so adorable and sweet and I would never want to hurt him. I know all of you feel the same way about your Yorkies, so any reassurance about how YOU dealt with this would be great. Thanks |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I had Bonnie spayed yesterday and I was VERY nervous. I know it's for the best but it was hard. I have her home now and she's recovering. She is being spoiled and pampered and I am glad it's done. I'm sure your puppy will do well and your worries will be over. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | You really have to do what feels right to you, and just know that either way...it will be okay and you'll work it out. I know operations can be scary but as long as you do the pre-surg bloodwork and everything checks out, your kiddo will be okay.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | All surgery carry risks, but it is so very very low with a traditional neuter that it is not something I would worry a whole lot about. Nevertheless we do and it is so human to do so. Just be alert afterwards to all post op instructions and be observant of your pup as he heals up. Which I am so sure you will be.

| Honestly I believe that you are doing him a favor. It seems to improve health somewhat, will take a tiny bit of that wanderlust out of him and might keep him out of a fight somewhere down the road as well. It is good that you are worried, it shows that you think about and care about your little furbutt.
