| Help with vaginal discharge Hello everyone, my Yorkie recently had a litter of puppies about 5 weeks ago, I noticed that the momma is panting early in the mornings and again at night, she also seems to have some brownish vaginal discharge. Otherwise she is acting just like her regular self and doesn't seem to be sickbut I was wondering if anyone knew what it might be? I'm attaching a photo of how the discharge looks |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I don't see the picture, but honestly I'd be bringing your girl to the vet asap...things can and do go wrong postpartum...so I'd get her checked asap!

| Here we have a female that is 6 weeks post partum, with puppies at her side. Apparently, she is having a brown vaginal discharge. This is NOT normal and could be a number of really dangerous, life threatening conditions. Metritis is an inflammation of the uterus and may be caused by a variety of reasons. If there are retained placentas or fetuses, these may be causing sepsis. Symptoms suggesting problems are fever, dehydration, lethargy, decreased appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, fast heart rate, panting, a purulent, fetid reddish to chocolate brown vaginal discharge Puppies may succumb from ingesting toxins passed in the milk, they should therefore be hand fed. Antibiotics are needed to treat this condition. There are several of us that have responded to this post, and we are generally concerned about this momma, as well as the puppies, who will die drinking toxic milk. PLEASE, be courteous enough to at least provide us with some kind of an update on this unfortunate momma and her babies. Last edited by Yorkiemom1; 06-12-2015 at 06:46 PM. |
