| bully stick alternative Good morning yorkie moms and dads! I know so many of our fur babies love bully sticks and raw hides, like LOVE LOVE LOVE! Maggie gets a raw hide stick every morning after our walk. I keep an eye on her and take it away when its gets to the point where she might swallow it (I offer her a tiny bite of apple and she drops it). However, I am just not feeling good about giving these to her, and have been doing so more our of habit/routine than anything else. I hear so many stories about Yorkies choking...I would be devastated if that happened to Maggie May. The thing is keeps her occupied while I start my work day (I work from home). After her morning bone she usually takes a long snooze. Sooo, what are some good alternatives to these dangerous sticks? Maggie is not into toys at all unless its food based. I do kongs but am also watching her calories and she really loves to CHEW. Any items on the market that you dogs love to chew that are SAFE before I spend the $. Maggie May and I thank you in advance!

| I've been a long time user of Oinkies. They're made by Hartz and I buy them at Target. I normally wouldn't buy them but I've used them for years. They smell smokey which I always preferred over bulky stick smell. They're a slower type of chew, and I don't leave them unattended with any chew.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | You could try CET chews, but don't get the petite - I'd get the medium bc the petites are a definite choking hazard (been there, big time!). Also, Honest Kitchen Beams are nice. I also do give a rather cheap-o treat called Munchy Stix...which may be similar to what you're giving...?

| How about Texas Toothpicks by Merrick? Both mine love it but it only lasts few min with Magnus.. But then, he's 16 lbs so... Zoey seems to take much longer though. If I were to just give it to her, TT is what I'd get rather than bully sticks/raw hides. You said you use Kong.. How about a treat ball? I have the Omega Paw Tricky Treat Ball. Both M/Z loves it. Even the small seems big but the "dimples" on the ball makes it easier for small mouths to grab. Below is the ball I'm talking about. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002DK26C/...w+tricky+treat |

| All three of mine love those Beams by Honest Kitchen. But they only get them on bath day. Eat a Beam, brush the teeth, give the bath. Those are the nastiest smelling things ever. Dead fish! Diana |
