| Itchy bottom? My lil Peanut is 5 months old. Just had a case of Giardia but she finished her last dose of medicine yesterday. She eats Nutrisource puppy food and has been on it since I got her from the breeder. She has been itching like crazy and biting her butt a lot. She doesn't have any fleas and I mentioned to the vet last week that she itches a lot and he checked her for fleas and checked her ears etc and said its probably just her "adult" hair coming in and maybe a little bit of dry skin. He checked her out and said her skin and coat all look healthy. I mentioned that she scoots her butt on the ground and was thinking maybe she needs her anal glands relieved, but he said that should happen when she goes to the bathroom. Anyway, I bought some conditioner for her bath time to soothe her dry skin (it isn't scaly or red, but i see tiny white specks, almost like dust and less like dander). It seemed to help for a few days and she was itching less. Today, she is biting her tail constantly. I ended up taking her to the groomer today to have her anal glands done (how long after this is done do they feel relief?). Afterward, she still continued to bite her tail. I just don't know what else it could be or what else I can do? Any suggestions on what else it could be or what else i can do? I feel bad for her when she is mid-play and stops abruptly to bite her tail. I also have to note that its not always her tail...she also scratches her ears a lot and sometimes even chews on her paws. |

| Sounds like allergies. You might want to talk with your vet about environmental allergies.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | How are her poos, since she is post-giardia? She may need a probiotic after giardia since giardia kills so much of the good flora in the sm intestine. I don't know what's going on here, but it sounds like something is def odd. Allergies are almost non-existent in a pup this age, so I doubt it's that. If it were me, I'd be thinking about switching foods first of all, bc of the butt scooting. And I'd probably add in some coconut oil to her food too.
