| A pup should be spayed before there first heat because there is really no chance of mammary cancer but with each heat the chance of cancer increases. A vet will know what is a baby tooth at 6 months and can still pull it. If you took my female who was spayed before her first heat and compared her to say my aunts dog who didn't get spayed until after her first heat you can see my dog has no mammary's because they did not develop since she did not have a heat but my aunts dog did. You can't get cancer is something you don't have. Cancer is so terrible doing anything you can to prevent it trumps just about everything else. Even if for some reason your pup did have to go back under that's ok because you lowered the chance of cancer and anesthesia is very very safe.
