| Eight pet foods tested for mycotoxins...... A consumer group, Association for Truth in Pet Food, sent out a combination of 8 cat and dog foods to be lab tested for 37 types of mycotoxin contamination. The results were released January 2015. The results are concerning, all eight had some level of mycotoxin contamination. There were 4 additional foods tested only for Guaranteed Analysis nutrient /mineral content. The testing found four in excess of maximum suggested by NCR (National Research Council) in cat food, five in excess of nutrient maximum suggested by NRC in dog food, and five in excess of AAFCO nutrient maximum in dog food. The foods were also tested for bacteria. Eight of the foods tested for mycotoxins all came back positive with some level of contamination. Four were low risk, two were medium risk and two were high risk: The tested dog foods were: Hill's Prescription Diet C/D Urinary Tract Health canned: medium risk Cesar top Sirloin Beef and Grilled Chicken Moist: low risk Blue Buffalo Grain Free Chicken Recipe Adult dry: low risk Beneful Original dry: high risk Cat food tested: Meow Mix Tender Centers Salmon & Turkey dry: high risk Wellness Complete Health Chicken, Chicken Meal & Rice Adult dry: medium risk Royal Canin Vet. | GTK. I also wonder about the OTC additives we all might add to our dog's foods? Are any of those products ever tested for mycotoxins or bacteria, carcinogens, etc.?

| I couldn't find any info about this association or their testing methods. Their website was very amateur looking so maybe I missed it.

| Thanks for posting this...I wonder if this is why Beneful is going through the class action law suit. Mycotoxins cause cancer & various other complications. Quote:
Mycotoxins primarily comes from mold due to contaminated grains used in pet food. Mycotoxins in Dog Food

Labels may say they are in compliance with various requirements and have third party testing but I wonder who does actually test the products and how often to be sure they are safe when they go into my sweet Tibbe.

I see it all the time on Facebook. The things that get passed around that are false is mind blowing....people just believe what they read....especially if it fits their "agenda" or what they want to believe. It is scary to me ... so much false information and sometimes it is downright harmful.

| So are these foods actually dangerous to the dogs eating them and if so, why hasn't the FDA banned the food?

| What the heck does this mean? The results found in this report are for informational purposes only. The testing results are not intended to sway consumer opinion/purchases for or against any particular product or company.

| Since one of them is a prescription food I would hope if your dog had that issue and your vet recommended you use a prescription food that you would.
