Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Question about allergies... So, I've been to the vet twice this week because my Bonnie is snuffling, sneezing and coughing. By the time we get to the vet, she isn't doing any of those things. The vet looks at me like I'm THAT mom and tells me my baby probably has allergies. So now I'm trying to figure out what she is allergic to. She was fine the first couple of weeks she was home. She has only been snuffling for the last week. The only thing new in the house was a large bouquet of flowers that I got for my Birthday. I threw those out and dusted, vacuumed and cleaned and I'm giving Benedryl like the doctor ordered. I also got a humidifier that was suggested. I'm waiting to see if she improves. Any other suggestions? |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | She sounds like the one with allergies but has an occasional moment when she sounds like the kennel cough. She seems better this morning. There was less coughing and sneezing when she woke up this morning and she plays and eats fine. Although she did have one episode of low blood sugar and the vet gave me Nutrical. For now she says use the Benedryl twice a day for a few days and see how she does. She will follow up on Feb. 2nd unless I feel she needs to go back sooner. Thank you for the videos😊 |

YT 500 Club Member | No problem. I just emailed you. My new puppy does the same thing as the chi does at least once a day. Vet is not concerned. I actually went to three different vets and none of them are concerned. Either sensative trachea or allergies they all said. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Is this a puppy or adult? If a puppy, an actual allergy would be unbelievably rare bc of the immune system's development stage. Did she recently get a kennel cough/bordatella vaccine? If so, that vaccine can often give them kennel cough - so it could be this.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Actually, I am taking her to the emergency vet this morning. I have taken her twice this week, the last time on Friday and was told she was fine and give her Benedryl. She seemed a little better yesterday and then this morning she was having a very difficult time breathing. I gave her the Benedryl and turned on the hot shower until she could breathe better. Now that she is more stable, I am getting ready to go to the vet again. I'm hoping that this time I get a better answer. I made videos to show the doctor so he can see her panic this morning. I will update later. |
