| Pros and cons of adding wet food to dry Lexi has always been my picky eater. Before getting Parker, who LOVES to eat, Lexi was free fed because she never had a problem over eating. Now with Parker I have to schedule feed, but Lexi rarely eats in the morning. Usually I can get her to eat by lunch time, but I have to hold Parker to keep him from trying to eat it too. I attempted adding wet in the past, but seemed to just make Lexi pickier. I am thinking about trying this again now that she is older, but I'm nervous to try again. Right now I don't work so I am able to feed her around lunch time if she doesn't eat in the morning, but soon I will be looking into getting a job and I'm worried about leaving her too long if she doesn't eat in the morning and think adding wet may help, but I just don't know. Anyway, just wanted to get some pros and cons of adding wet to dry from those who do it or have tried it in the past. Thanks! |

| I don't see many cons to wet food aside from the cost and messy beards lol...also you obviously can't really leave it out if your pup doesn't eat immediately. As far as the pros, I think wet food in general is better just because of the increased moisture content (better for digestion and urinary tract health)...being more palatable is also a plus. I'm not sure if it'll make Lexi pickier but if you're willing to keep adding the wet food to entice her to eat on a schedule, I'd go for it. My pups love wet food (Toki eats primarily that) but will also eat plain kibble with no issues...increasing the amount/frequency of wet food they get has not made them pickier (although they aren't that discriminating when it comes to meal times anyway). |

Thanks. I may give it a try. Lexi is also a poop eater, and when she doesn't eat in the morning, it's even worse. It is more expensive, but since I am not giving too much each meal, it shouldn't be too bad. | |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I don't see any big cons to adding wet. You could also think about adding real meat or fish to the food instead of canned. Also, have you tried just sprinkling Parmesan on her food?
