| Acupuncture? Has anyone on here tried acupuncture for pain? If so did it help? I posted in the emergency board about my dog flinching and hurting when we pet her. The vets have no clue what's wrong but gave 3 pain meds. If these don't work then they suggest either steroids or acupuncture |

| I would try it on myself before my dog to know if it hurts.

| My vet does accupuncture....she goes all over the USA, teaching clinics how to do accupuncture on pets. She did accupuncture on those little babies I had many years ago that had gotten parvo....we threw everything at them but the kitchen sink.....the accupuncture was done to fortify their immune system....I only lost one of those babies, as deathly ill as they were, so if I had a pet that I could not get pain relief for, I would certainly try it.....I know it did work on a friends horse that had an injury to shoulder/withers area, and accupuncture helped pain in that area, both as the horse healed, and later in life when arthritis apparently became an issue in that left front shoulder. |

Cheeselover - I wouldn't hesitate to try accu. I had it done on my cat about 25 years ago and it worked really great for him. It can work miracles for some.

| My last girl had a vertigo issue which left her with a tilted head, my vet performed acupuncture, and cured the tilt. I would definitely have acupuncture used again for any issue my vet feels acupuncture would help. My vet also travels all over, giving seminars on acupuncture, procedure, and training.

| Thank you! I'll give her the meds through the holidays and try acupuncture afterwards. I hate how these meds are making her real drowsy though. I'll keep you posted. |

| I have two friends that are heavy into agility and obedience with their dogs. One is a golden and the other is an Afghan. The lady that owns the Afghan is a vet herself. They both take their dogs to a vet that is also licensed in acupuncture. My two friends swear by acupuncture. They both say their dogs fall asleep during the treatments. Do your homework and find someone that is qualified and not someone that has taken a course or two and claim they are qualified. (I have a groomer in my area that makes this claim by calling herself an animal masseuse (sp).

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I've had acupuncture several times. It didn't hurt, and found it worked out well. It could be uncomfortable if I moved, bug if I laid still, no problem. If these furbutts are falling asleep, the vets must have a trick up their sleeve my Dr didn't know about. I wouldn't hesitate to take Roxy to one if she had a need for one. Good luck!!!
