| red spots, getting rid of fleas, maybe stress My 3 1/2 year old girl has had fleas twice this year, only times ever, she has had a lot of red spots on her belly and around her butt. i got a pill from the vet to give her tonight and i have cleaned the house really well, that was days ago. I soaked her in water and tried dawn detergent also, and rinsed her off just fine. she gets groomed in two days and was told that may help with irritation. does anyone have any extra things i could try to help her? shes on a diet of NF canned wet dog food because she had a possible liver shunt last year, and the only other thing she eats is treats under 15% crude protein as they said, and a tad bit of popcorn here and there. thanks! |

| Keep vacuuming and cleaning your house daily for awhile to get rid of flea/eggs. Wash your dog's bedding as often as possible. What is the pill the vet gave you? Is it a flea preventative/killer? Continued red spots might be an indication that your dog is still be bitten by fleas. My Teddy is highly allergic to the bites. We have a topical med that we got from the vet. I haven't found any home remedies that take the itchiness out of the bites and that are safe to put on a dog, especially where they might lick and ingest it.

| it is sentinel spectrum. i asked for topical since shes 4 pounds and very peculiar but they had this. it treats heartworm parasites and fleas. its so hard to pick a flea off her belly when i see it but i have gotten some. they said it maybe allergies to. i bombed the house over the summer and it got rid of them before. just hate seeing the red spots get worse and hoping the hair cut will help out. i saw olive oil and other things may help just scared from what virginia tech doctor said to watch what i give her |

| Sentinel will help with the flea problem, stopping the cycle from the eggs. You can use organic coconut oil on the spots to help them heal. It probably won't take the itchiness out. Coconut oil is safe for the doggies to lick and ingest. Nutiva brand from the Vitamin Shoppe is a great brand. You probably have one of those stores in your area.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I would probably try benadryl as it sounds like she is having a histamine reaction; this may help a lot w/ the irritation. You'd give 1-2mg per pound of body weight, every 4-6 hours. We normally don't give out dosages here, but the Benadryl dose is one that is elsewhere on the forum...and, Benadryl can be a lifesaver, literally in the case of stings or whatnot, so it's important to know the dosage for your kiddo. Make sure you run it by your vet first to make sure they approve trying it.
