| kidney failure food My dog has been eating special kidney food. She is the most pickiest dog ever. Along with dog food I feed her rice, noodles, green beans, carrots, low sodium soups, honey, with doctors okay. Anyway she is getting sick of eating the same stuff over and over. However she wants treats or my food. Dog food I have tried: 1. Hills k/d dry and wet.(liked it the first week and then done) 2. Canin renal dry and wet.(same thing) Anyone have any suggestions on the best food for kidney disease? ? |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Have you thought about home cooking since you're practically doing it anyway? You do need a canine nutritionist to recommend a recipe and supplements.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | We do have a link in the library, but I don't know the prices of them. Remember, it's a one time price for a recipe and then you can use it over and over. Here's the link in the library: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/die...itionists.html Also, "Balance It" is a canine supplement, and they do have some receipts for dogs with special problems, you might have to pay a little extra for specialized advice, but it would be worth it. https://secure.balanceit.com/# Also, Barney, (Cathy) the above poster has worked with nutritionists, and I think she has someone she can recommend. I only mentioned it because you seem to be giving so much home cooked anyway, and probably all that would be needed is some protein. Dogs never seem fussy when it comes to home cooked.

| Yes most dogs like Purina NF. As Nancy said, you could home cook.

| Try NF. If no go then homecooking is an option. If it is not a very advanced case of kidney disease you might get away with adding a phosphorus binder to a regular food.
