| 5.5 lb yorkie ate 1/4 of a grape seed/grape skin/ grape juice extract pill My 5.5 lb yorkie ate 1/4 of a grape seed/grape skin/ grape juice extract pill. He's now sick and is eating a lot of grass. I called the vet and they said that's ok and that he'll just be upset stomach. I had heard that grapes can cause kidney failure but the vet seems to think that the 1/4 of a pill of the grape seed/skin/juice extract is OK? |

| I honestly don't know much about those pills at all...I nearly lost my Mini to a few grapes, a few thousand dollars and we were lucky...really lucky. Not trying to scare you, but if your pup gets any sicker get to an emergency vet...

| Bless your heart, I know you are scared and don't know if you can trust what the vet told you. I'd call one of the Pet Poison Control lines here just for back-up and to be on the safe side, getting ready to go to the ER vet now in case they recommend it. There are one-time fee lines and a free line(at the time the thread was listed it was free - don't know if it's still operational or free) listed here. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/eme...l-hotline.html

| Can you let us know how things progress? I hope your baby will be okay. Like you, I called the vet when my cat ate almost a half cup of raisins in less than 30 seconds! They told me, firstly, that cats were different to dogs with respect to the damage of raisins/grapes and the kidney...which I have since learned it not entirely true. They also advised that damage from raisins/grapes is as a result of toxins building slowly so a one time binge, for example, doesn't mean a death sentence. Again, due to lynzy's experience above, I'd probably not take that advice as a guarantee but as something to consider whilst monitoring in addition to your own vets advice. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | The grape seed extract is different than a grape, it's even in some dog foods. Keep your vet advised and let us know how he's doing.
