| Canidae Dog Food - information and questions Muffin's Mom provided some good information about Canidae Dog Food - All Life Stages in another thread and I thought I would move some of her information into its own thread. I have been feeding Innova since at least the summer (May, June or July) and have ordered Canidae to begin feeding as soon as it arrives. Quote:
I know that Pat (Muffin's Mom) has just recently switched to Canidae and that the stools of her two yorkies may not be settled yet but I'm going to ask this question anyway for Pat and any other Canidae feeder to answer. Carter, Cooper and Crissy's poop on Innova has started to really bother me . . . almost makes me gag it stinks so bad. When I fed Science Diet (way back early last year), the bulk and smell was much less than that of Innova. What can I expect when feeding Canidae?

| I've had my dogs eating Canidae for over a year. They all eat it well and I'm very happy with it. Regarding poops .. very firm. and i haven't found them gaging. I have a feed store down the street from me. The owner carries every kind of food. I know when I was trying to decide what to feed my yorkies that was the food he recommended over everything he sold. Hope you're gang likes it as much mine. |

With our 2 on Canidae, I can't say the poops stink. My husband says they don't either. I think Missy just isn't able to control her muscles to hold or move her bowels. The feed store where I buy the dog food ALSO recommended Canidae to us. Good luck.

| Pat: I thought it was relevant where you posted but also that it deserved its own thread. I thank you for posting the information for the forum to see! Lisa

| Love Canidae Loki had some serious tummy issues until we switched to Canidae. Not a single DAY of diarrhea in 4 months. Before that it was at least once every 2 weeks. I have also given him things, like a small taste of cheese, that would have made him sick before and he can handle it. I'm so greatful that I found it. I buy it from Loki's trainer, but I can also get it from Pet Supplies Plus. I think they have stores all over the country. Also, I called Canidae and explained I have returned just about every bag of food I've ever bought because literally giving Loki 5 pieces made him sick. They sent enough samples for me to try it AND switch him slowly over 2 weeks! I even passed some on to friends to try after buying him a whole bag!

| Gucci likes Canidae!! Gucci eats Canidae. Her stool is firm and it doesnt smell bad. I have switch her food many times looking for one she likes. I decided to stick with Canidae. She likes it, even thou sometimes she wont want it. I just add a bit of wet to it and that does the trick. I like this food so far. Gucci was having so many problems itching with the other foods but not with this ones. |

| I use it because I have 5 dogs ranging in age from 10 mos to 13 yrs, so I wanted something they all could eat. None of mine are picky eaters, so I haven't had any problems. Stools are firm and I can only smell them when Dublin decides he wants to play with it!!! I can't wait until he grows out of it! BTW- Just bought a bag this weekend and the big 40lb - or is it 50lb ? - bag was $37.69. ( I know this because I just threw out the receipt.) Is that in line with what ya'll pay?

| I ordered mine online because it was (in my husband's opinion) cheaper to pay shipping than have to go to New Orleans to pick it up at the feed store. I ordered a 5# bag for my oldest daughter's yorkie, Sebastian, who is having skin problems and was eating Chicken Soup. The 5# bag online was $6.64. My 40# bag was $30. I had to pay shipping on both but it was worth it to me. As New Orleans recovers more from the hurricane damage, I'll be able to pick up bags instead of having to have it shipped from online dealers. Also, my daughter will be moving back to our area, so we'll kill two birds with one stone when I purchase large bags for my 3 plus her one! There is an online dealer for the midwest that doesn't charge shipping -- if you happen to be lucky enough to be in that region.

| Thanks, Lisa. Since the store is just a couple of miles from me, I'm probably better off getting it there. I was just curious...

| I agree too! I checked all around the area of my daughter's home in NC and none of the feed stores carry Canidae. My first option was to find a vendor close by to her for her but I (we) had no luck. With the feed store in New Orleans being at least an hour trip for me, my husband decided with wear and tear, gas, time, etc it was worth it to him to pay for shipping. However . . . as more things open in New Orleans and we begin travelling there for pleasurable events (such as eating . . . lol), I'll pick up the food for the dogs while there.
