| My 7 week old puppy will not eat the healthy food we bought her! Okay...I got a 7 week old yorkie girl who is adjusting very well to our home. She is sleeping well, eating well, drinking plenty of water, sleeping, using the potty normally, and VERY playful! We love her! But...she is a very stingy eater. The breeder had her eating Purina dry puppy food. Which she loves. But I want to switch her to the Blue Buffalo small breed puppy food which she will not touch. I've tried mixing it little at a time, wetting it with warm water, even mixing it with the formula replacement. I understand that she is so young to be away from her momma, but I assure you all that we are taking the best possible care of her which is why I prefer her to eat the healthy food! So what should I do? Just continue with the old food? Or keep trying to mix it? |

Have you tried mixing it with wet food? Lexi could not resist wet food. I mixed it with her dry in the beginning until she got a little bigger. Once she was bigger, I cut out the wet. Of course, she wanted nothing to do with the dry, but eventually when she got hungry she would eat it and now she eats it with no problem. I also feed BB puppy. | |

| Please let your puppy eat what she was eating @ the breeder's home, where her momma was, her siblings, all the familiar things that she left. Puppies' digestive systems are not fully developed & switching food on them is very dangerous. A simple thing as a food switch can cause bloody runny stools, aka colitis caused by stress or diet. A good breeder should've advised the new puppy owner of this, it should've been in her contract. She's much too young to switch food on her right now. Let her eat the purina & when she gets to be a couple more months older, then slowly switch her food. She's eating it fine, so I wouldn't be too concerned even tho it's not the best quality food, just let her eat it.

| And when you switch do it in 1/4th, 1/4th new food 2-3 days, then 1/2 new food 2-3 more days, then 3/4 and finally 100%. Always take at least a week unless Vet advised emergency, such as prescription diet. |

| Okay. I mean I took her to a vet. He said she is doing exceptional. I'm really taking excellent care of her. Her mommy was not taking care of her anymore, and her siblings were very dominate over her. The breeder thought she might do better with one on one care. Which she is. But I will keep her on the food she was on. |
