| Is Wellness Core Rich? I was told today that Wellness Core is a very rich food. Is this true? I am still trying to find something that Coco will love. We have tried Wilderness but she was not havin' that stuff. She has been on BB Freedom for a while and in my opinion she eats it because it's what she is offered. I want her to have a good food that is preferably grain free. Now, nothing at all against Science Diet but this is one food that I wont feed her so that one is not an option. We have tried CC and she really did not like that one. I have read here that Fromm is really a good brand and with no recalls. That's always one thing I worry about. I want her to have a kibble so that its small for her to eat. I believe Orijen is supposed to be a good one also. BB may actually be considered a rich food but i don't know. There is just something about that I personally don't feel that she gets excited about eating it. I want her to really enjoy her food. Heck, I want to enjoy my food also so why shouldn't she??? Thank you |

| My dog is extremely picky and for a long time I thought she had to be on grain free but many of my friends whom I trust really liked Royal Canin and they really do a lot of great stuff and use science when making there food and stuff so I decided to try it and my girl absolutely loves it. She also has very sensitive skin and it has not made her break out.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I always have to laugh a little when I hear the phrase "too rich"....I mean, what does that even mean, ya know? It has no real meaning or basis in fact. What's too rich about it? It's a nice food that is AAFCO approved and is balanced based upon a canine's RDA needs. Another nice one is Solid Gold's Wee Bits - it is a smaller kibble. I also like Nature's Logic.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | What do they mean by rich? Fat content? It's true that some dogs have varying degrees of tolerance to different fat levels, and some health conditions requiring limiting fats. But if your pup doesn't have any digestive issues from it (after a slow switch), then food choice becomes a matter of preference.

Wellness Core (puppy) seemed fine by this definition but the other Wellness Puppy was "too rich."

| I don't exactly know either, that's why I asked here. To me personally, when I speak about people food I know what "rich" means. Italian Creme Cake is what I call "rich". Meaning a little dab will do ya for me. Cheese Cake is "rich". So, I presumed that was what was meant by "rich" only in dog food. |

You also mentioned Fromm...their grain-free kibbles are pretty small and most are like the size and shape of pencil erasers. We finished a bag of the GF Fromm Lamb and Lentil formula last month...those kibbles are shaped like actual little lambs and were very little...wish I had taken a picture...they were small/irregularly shaped and would have been easy for small mouths to pick up. Many say that Fromm is more "palatable" and great for picky dogs ...my pups certainly have enjoyed all of the formulas we've fed! And many stores selling Fromm will also have small sample bags available that you can get for your pup to try.

Some people say "too rich" when it's a higher protein food...and I never really understood why protein content suddenly came to be synonymous w/ "richness", lol, just didn't make sense to me.

YT 2000 Club Member | dog My boys really like the wellness complete health. It is the oatmeal and chicken one. I mix in a little of the chicken stew wet canned and they eat it. Poop looks like it is supposed to look, not runny which I had when feeding bb. Try wellness, a very good nutritious dog food. My poodle breeder from awhile back feeds all her top show dogs this food and highly recommends it. |

| I realize this is an old post, but I just want to chime in and say that when Chaucer turned a year old, and we started switching him over to 'adult' food, he had some stomach stuff happen. The vet had us put him on a bland diet, and then we moved him, gradually to Wellness, and he was fine. We have been using Wellness Core Grain Free for Small Breeds for a very long time, and we love it. I use to supplement with homemade dog food (rice and chicken), then stopped. Now that we live in the city and have a doorman, he has been getting treats that I've not inspected. He's started having some symptoms of acid reflux (which I just figured out). The odd treats will be stopping, and I'll be adding the homemade food back in and we'll just stick to Wellness |
