| Hills K/D Canine My baby Mokka went to get her teeth done today but they called stating they can't because her blood pressure and kidney levels are high. Anyways...they gave us this food Hill's® Prescription Diet® k/d® Canine Renal Health Dry Dog Food and 3 cans of of wet dog food. I am the kind of owner that leaves a bowl out with food all day until 8pm. (I have two dogs). Would I be okay with I left out a small dish with the dry food all day or should I only feed her twice a day like the recommend package says? What is everyone's thoughts? |

| Is it only her or do you have others? I can see three yorkies in your avatar. If you have more than one you she probably not free feed any. Did the vet make a recommendation on follow up for the BP and kidney levels?

| Did they give her fluids to help flush her kidneys? Did they do a urinalysis? Fluids can help bring the levels down. You definitely need follow up blood tests to see if she is going into kidney disease. It can be maintained by diet, meds and fluids. Good luck and hope she feels better soon.

| Yes they flushed out her kidneys and two meds for two weeks. Then I take her back to get her checked out again. She doesn't like the dry food or the treats but loves the wet food. I have another dog 10 years old, no issues with her. Can she eats the k/d food? I don't like having two different kinds of dog foods in the house. I usually leave dry food out all day but with 2 different foods it difficult. I hope when I go back in two weeks everything will be back to normal. I have a feeling she will be on this type of food for the rest of her life, which is fine. I just want her healthy. I wish I could feed her a little rice or an egg every now and then though |
