| Hills Science Diet recall Bags of Science Diet Dog Food Recalled Over Possible Contamination | KTLA 5 Hill’s Pet Nutrition was voluntarily recalling 62 bags of Science Diet® Adult Small & Toy Breed™ dry dog food due to possible salmonella contamination, the company announced Monday. http://tribktla.files.wordpress.com/...pg?w=300&h=166Bags of Science Diet Toy and Small Breed dog food were being recalled over possible Salmonella contamination. (Credit: Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Inc.) The potentially tainted food was distributed to 17 veterinary clinic and pet store customers in California, Hawaii and Nevada between April 24 and May 13, 2014, according to a news release from the company. The recall involved 15.5 pound bags with a stock-keeping unit (SKU) code of 9097 and a “best before” date of 08 2015 M094 printed on the bags. All 17 customers have been contacted by Hill’s and no illnesses had been reported, the release stated. The product was accidentally released, according to the company, which said the discovery was made “during a routine inventory reconciliation.” Anyone who purchased the dog food was urged to discontinue use and immediately call Hill’s Pet Nutrition at 1-800-445-5777 Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. (CT). |

| When dealing with any kind of food there is always and chance of contamination no matter how clean.

| Oh my! I got that too and to make matters worse Zoey just got home from a 2 day trip to the ER sick lethargic puking and diarreah and on IVS the whole time. I seriously didn't think she was going to make it thru the night. They say it's from dog food that is not Fully TESTED and there are too many out there just formulated and thrown into processing and we are feeding this to our dogs.i took in my empty bag of Fromm and she showed me what to look for. They put her on hills prescription ID and my poor , sick, finicky baby..........loved it , ate it, and left with a normal poop, and back to her old self....I am FLOORED...she doesn't even LIKE wet food....I didn't believe them! Till I got her home and gave her some. What are we to do?! Moderator please forgive me for talking about this on 2 different threads again but Zoey has been sick and gone and me fit to be tied and this Recall just tied into it all since Zoey just got put on it. (Not the recalled one but it is the same company) It is doing her good and I am staying on it I was given 2 pages of her research information I will get back and post and maybe you might want to have second thoughts on if your baby maybe suffered from a gastric attack. And I spent months and months researching dog food , I didn't even consider this cause I have heard nothing good about it.....but my sources might have been here say too or biased ....I don't know ...I just know if it helped my baby come out of this that is all that counts. |

BUT, my opinion is not really how many recalls a company has had but rather how they handle it.

| Yep, here is what vet gave me I hope these are in order , if not forgive me.... Explains a little how these dog food companies throw something together then just sell it to us without the federal testing seal that proves it was manufactured the after being tested ..... |

| Oh yes! It's very scary! I have learned so much thru the years as I was one who definitely bought into the big time marketing in the new age pet food industry. I still think every dog is different and is going to do well on different foods, but it can be quite scary to hear about companies who literally BUY ingredient lists and just throw them together...

| It is concerning. I'd be more alarmed if it was more than 62 bags.
