| First annual vet visit-which vaccines? Hi everyone, My little guy, Gryffin, is due for his first annual vet visit at the beginning of June. I am confused about what to expect for vaccines. I know he will be getting a rabies shot, but should this be a one year vaccine or 3 year? What other shots should I expect? Also can these shots be given in one visit? I know his puppy vaccines were spread out over time. Do these need to be as well? I want to be well informed so I can say no if the vet recommends something that isn't needed. Thanks, Sara

| Canine: New Puppy 8 weeks DAP 3yr +/- Lepto & Corona 12 weeks DAP 3 year Bordetella +/- Lepto & Corona +/- Lyme #1 16 weeks Rabies 1 year +/- Lyme #2 Adult Dog (hx of vaccination) DAP 3 year +/- Lepto & Corona +/- Lyme +/- Rabies (if due) +/- Bordetella (if pet grooms or boards) This is the schedule our new vet follows. We had been with another vet for years and they are still insisting on yearly vaccines so we left. The vaccines with the +/- mean these should be discussed with your vet and see if they are needed or not. Hope this helps!

The 1 yr core vaccines are distemper and parvo...ALL others are non-core and are not required. You get the next boosters in 3 years. I do not get lepto, corona, lymes, or bordatella - or anything extra at all.

| At one year it will be one dose of rabies (3 year labeling) and one dose of DHPP (may be labeled for one year, but can give less often). Lepto, lyme, and bordetella depend on your lifestyle and environment. I don't give them. Corona, giardia, and canine flu don't come near my dogs.
