| Experience with metronidazole? Does anyone else have experience with metronidazole? As you might see from my prior posts, my 7 lb yorkie has been having problems with diarrhea the past 4 days and it's getting better, but too slowly so the vet put him on metronidazole. Just wondering if anyone has used this and has experiences to share? Has anyone experienced any side effects? I am so paranoid about giving him any medications, despite the vet telling me its frequently used and safe and he has had absolutely no reported side effects. I'm just a nervous nelly I guess. Thanks!! |

| My Tibbe took it and he did well after that on it. Of course, he was given an anti-diarrhea liquid medicine called K-Pectin to take ounces and ounces of also. It is pale pinkish color and he had to take 10 ml. per dose. I could never get that much down him at one time and had to break them up in thirds and wait 20 minutes or so in between but that anti-diarrhea liquid helped tremendously.

| The pill form of K-Pectin? I didn't even know it came in pill form!

YT 2000 Club Member | Tatiana has been on it a few times for diarrhea. She has not had any side effects. My vet makes it into a liquid and I then give it by a dropper. Tatiana won't takes pills and this is why they do this form.

| I can't even recall which form Tibbe was given but thankfully I don't recall he had any side-effects. If the Metro isn't working on the diarrhea quickly enough, maybe you need to get him some K-Pectin or something like it to help quicker.

| Side effects are possible, but not likely. No problems here.
