| I'm not an expert or breeder or anything but wanted to bump your post and to say that when you have one that weighs 2.4 lbs. you have to be extremely careful and make sure they eat and maitain their weight....otherwise they can go downhill very fast and if you suspect something isn't right with him I highly suggest you see your vet. I've heard of picky eaters before and that's ok but when they are that small you HAVE to find something they will eat and make sure they do so. Hope this helps a little and someone else will post

| Give him nutrical so he doesnt get hypoglycemia. You can get it at Petsmart. Also get some Lil Caesars food. Even the picky eaters on here will eat that. You can get that at the grocery store.

| Please get this boy Yorkie a complete vet checkup ASAP. You have described the "classic symptoms" for livershunt. Many Yorkies can live several years on the edge but yet never really having a health crisis. They just appear "not thrifty" or not totally healthy. But everything you said about this kid screams that he may have a liver condition. And I repeat "may have". In any case if he is thin and underweight he needs to see a vet to rule out any other health issues. Ask the vet to do a complete CBC blood panel AND a serum bile acid test. The serum bile acid test will reveal a liver issue. Then you can make a decision as to what further testing and/or treatments may be necessary. Please let us know. Good luck. Oh and trust me NO healthy Yorkie spends his days sleeping "in a ball" all day. It is just not their nature. They are terriers and all things associated with being a terrier uh I mean "terror". LOL |

| what to do for toby?? Toby (bug) has been to the vet!! they gave him a bubble pac & sent him on his way----- This all started 30 + days ago when our new pups came home (2 poms) toby was fine, had some weight(normal for him) this stems from an emotional issue- he is highly sensitive- hes not a "normal: y.t- hes special- i am Not making light of his weight but i was thinking more like doggie depression, i dont want to have to force feed him again- he really didnt take kindly to that, there must be a better way- i am not an irresponsible owner- i pamper to every wim- but tobys prior life as he was shipped to us in poor condition in sept.05- i got him on the downhill- he does go up & down but once the 2 newbie's came home, toby didnt like that change- so he refuses to eat- when its just him he is licky, excited but Boney- not from our doing. i will have him rechecked for those classic sign's- but i truely need to know if there is more i can do at home where as this be his issues- incase the vet does say hes fine again- he's not fine. this 3yr old has been so misunderstood, i know his soul, his eyes dont lie & i know its emotional- how can i treat that? i also keep nutri-cal ( teacup knowledgeable- not an expert ) he just needs to eat. do they make liquid weight builder? what do they do for highly emotional pets? Toby does have solid bowel movement & does pee daily but he just dont eat & cant hold weight- can a liver problem do all this? |

| Kim, My Rocky is just under 4 lbs and I thought he was skinny. About 6 months ago we brought a female yorkie puppy home. The first week with Daisy he had no interest in eating...Not sure if he was depressed or just excited about the new addition. None the less I would pen up Daisy in the laundry room where they normally sleep and spend more 1/1 time with Rocky. I would play ball with him and give him his favorite treats..Think this allowed him to understand even through we have a new addition he is still my little man. You might try and to spend a little 1/1 time with Toby and spoil him with treats. This might stimulate his appetite. |

| I would have him checked out by a vet first. I would also try giving him a little boiled white rice and boiled chicken cut up in it. The poms dont scare him away from the food dish do they? is the baby eating out of the same dish as the poms? |

| I'm not sure I know what to make of what you said. The vet "gave him a bubble pac and sent him on his way". If this vet did not do blood work then how does he know Toby is healthy? I think you may need to consider a second opinion. Toby could very well have an emotional issue but you need to rule out a serious health issue first before you can even begin to deal with an emotional issue. In my opinion. I don't know what else you can do for him at home unless you truely know what his physical health is like. Sorry I can't be of more help. <Toby does have solid bowel movement & does pee daily but he just dont eat & cant hold weight- can a liver problem do all this?> snip YES a liver problem can do all that you mention in your first post including not eating and very skinny. Again I urge you to get him checked out by a compentent vet. |
