| How much did you pay for dental work? My JRT is getting his teeth cleaned, and a few extractions this Thursday. I actually have no idea how many teeth he'll need removed, because they are pretty bad, worse than I originally thought. The secretary at the Vet office, told me if they have to remove more then 10 teeth, then they will not charge me after the 10th tooth..so if they removed 15 teeth, they would only charge for 10 teeth. He is about 10yrs old, so he also needs a blood tests which costs $110, $68 X-ray, and $80 for the cleaning. I was told depending on the tooth that needs to be extracted it can cost anywhere from $5-$36/per tooth. So the whole estimate is $350+.. I have saved up around $1200...hoping it will be enough. Does the price sound reasonable, do you think $1200 will be enough? What will happen if it's more than $1200?! By the way, after my JRT gets his teeth done, Zoey goes in for her first dental cleaning. Her teeth aren't very bad, as she's always chewed on bones. But I want to be safe than sorry.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | I think you've saved enough. Cleaning is expensive, but I've never paid more than $550 or so. One several years ago had 7 teeth removed. On the last one, she had 3 teeth removed. The expense I'm not seeing in your estimate is the anesthesia -- I thought that was the most expensive part. I assume that's included somewhere.

| My cousin paid a bit over $1000 for her 30lb dog's cleaning and like 10 extractions. I don't know if that's high or average for my area. |

| I think Jackson's ended up being in the high $400 range. Probably closer to $500. He did not need any teeth pulled. This also included the OraVet, preop bloodwork, etc.

| $500 just for cleaning? Wow! My vet only charges $80 for cleaning, plus if the pet is older then 6yrs old it's $110 for preop blood work. So about $100-$200 just for basic cleaning. I guess I shouldn't complain haha

| Too cheap. I'd question what anesthesia is being used, if fluids are given, dedicated staff to monitor, etc. It is $200 here (minus bloodwork), but if adding xrays and then several extractions it is quite a bit more.

| Hmm, my family has been with this vet since 1967, needless to say we trust these people, and know they do just as good of work as the more expensive vets in my town. I travel 25 minutes to this vet. The vet in my town gave me an estimate of $1100 just for basic cleaning...Ha!

| Dropped Juke off this morning at 7:45am, it's now 11am and I haven't received a call. Just sitting here, nervously awaiting the call and the price. Gah, I hate being a worrywart

You may think you are getting the same as the other vets in town, but I will bet if you look at it all dollar for dollar, you are simply not getting the same services and/or care people are at the other vet.

| Oh, I misunderstood....you are quoted about $350. I saw $80. I definitely would not expect to pay more than about $500 if 15 teeth were extracted. I would still ask what protocol they are using. Just so you know.
