Introducing a new puppy We just got a new puppy and my 10 month old yorkie is terrified of her. What should I do?

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Just give then time to adjust. In the mean time, make sure the 10 month old can find a spot where she can't bother him/her. I would put them together several times a day, supervised and see your older one can get adjusted to her. I really think in time they will be best friends. Also, always greet, treat and feed your 10 month old first. Keep us posted.

When I bought Abby home the other two dogs were sniffing at her. Finally I gave them all a bath so they smelled alike. Still took a good month for Ziva to be comfortable with her- once she knew I liked the puppy she did too!

I agree with the other responses, always give your oldest first dibs on everything. I got a new puppy when my first puppy was 10 mos old as well. However, my oldest was aggressive and mean to the younger one. She would not look at her or go near her unless she was trying to fight. It took a couple of months but they got used to each other. I would try to facilitate a bond between them by taking them on walks together and playing with both of them at the same time. I have a coupler on my dogs leash which has helped them bond and become more in sync with each other. Do you know if they will be around the same size when they are full grown?

Roxy just wants to play with Gizmo so bad, but he's not quite ready yet. One good thing, he doesn't try to hurt her, he just keeps his distance and today I noticed he goes close to smell her when she's sleeping. I guess he feels safe when she sleeps. Lol!!!

I bought an expen shortly after I got Abby (36" tall 8panel Iris) it was a big help to train and corral Abby when the two older dogs had enough of her puppy ways. Abby will be 3 this year and she still uses it to eat and the occassional time out (just use the 4 panels)

Oh that was quick! Thats a great sign, they will probably be the best of friends. It's also good that they will be around the same size because they will be less likely to fight. My youngest is bigger than my oldest so even though they get along, they still have power struggles.
