| heart worm preventative recomendations for 5 month old What heart worm preventative would you all recommend for a 5 month old yorkie? She weighs around 3-3.5 lbs. There are so many to choose from and since she is so small, I want to be careful that she doesn't get too high of a dosage. Thank you all in advance for your advice! Beth |

| My pups aren't as small as yours (8 and 9 pounds) but we use Sentinel and have not had any issues. It protects against several different types of worms and kills flea eggs. At my vet office, you can also get a rebate if you buy a 6 or 12 month supply which is also nice since it is pricier than other HW meds. |

| my 8# 2 yr old pup is on sentinel, as he threw up the trifexis. Does anyone know where to buy Sentinel online for a good price and without Rx, I imagine my vet will charge me to write one and its $70 for 6 mths there. Thanks for any feedback. |

| You need to be careful with online places there are some who will sell you fakes. Also a lot of company's will void the "warranty" if it's not bought from your vet. Like say dog A gets his heart worm preventive every month and his owner got the preventive from the vet so if he gets heart worms then the company will pay for his treatment. Now if Dog B takes his heart worm preventive every month but his owner got it at blahblah.com and he gets heart worm the company more then likely is not going to cover it. Also you can't get heart worm prevention in the USA with out a prescription.

| You can't buy HeartWorm Preventive with out an RX. Check out Foster's and Smith for the Sentinel, I have ordered from them before. BUT they must call your Vet for the RX or you must submit and RX to them. My Vet only charges $40.00 per 6 month supply (2-10 lbs) for my Sentinel.
