Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I've never tried antlers, but I've heard they're too hard/tough for little dogs to break. Another thing you might try are non-consumable raw meaty bones. I use Bison back/rib raw bones for my 3 and they can't consume the bone - they just chew off the bit of meat that's there, and then gnaw on the bone afterward, cleaning their teeth.

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | My brother gives them to his dog a lab/pit mix. He says that it will train her to find deer when they go hunting. Id be afraid that mine would break a tooth on them so since my babies wont be out hunting any time soon or ever we'll stick with our pig ears !!

| I've heard of the most chipped/broken teeth coming from antlers, so I'd probably opt to stay away. Jackson wouldn't chew on them anyway, so it was never an issue for us.

| Toki seemed to like them a lot...we used to get her the split ones so it was easier for her to get the center part which she liked the best. She would whittle the antlers into sharp points and sometimes I'd find blood on the ends...also very painful to accidentally step on so I stopped giving them. We've kind of moved away from edible chews (antlers, himalayan chews, bully sticks)...we use mostly Nylabones now...if we do edible chews, we use the dried sweet potato ones but those don't last really long. With the Nylabones, I have to get a pretty big size and the durable ones for heavy chewers because my pups will get chunks off the small ones recommended for their size. |

They use them to train the dogs to find antler sheds, not deer lol. It's illegal to use dogs to hunt deer. (At least in Texas it is)

My furkids Donating Member | it's not legal in Mass to use dogs to hunt deer either...matter of fact a hunter can legally shoot the DOG if he/she sees one chasing a deer...I know someone that lost their dog like this

| In texas, we use them a lot for hogs... But it's basically open season on wild hogs.... They tear up everything!!! My son shot one this weekend in fact, so we'll be having pork roast next week!

| My dogs love antlers. I've never had issues where they break chunks off. When my APBT was a puppy, he did break both of his top puppy canines in half. No problems with the little dogs ever.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I get them at Whole Foods. You can either find them in the dog food freezer, or back by the human foods. I get the ones from the dog food freezer, then I bring them back to the butcher and ask him to cut them in half, and some in thirds - bc the bones are pretty long and I don't need them that long for my kiddos. So in the end, I end up getting a LOT more bones for my buck bc I cut them down. If you have an electric saw at home, that works too.
