YT 1000 Club Member | Trifexis is running out of steam ! On all four of my guys, toward the end of the month period that Trifexis is supposed to keep Fleas off of them, I'm finding a few Fleas ! Is this something that someone else here has noticed ? Do some Fleas become "immune" to given chemicals ? I could go back to HeartGuard for the worm protection, then... I have a choice, Comfortis, Frontline... any others which someone has had good luck with ? Or do I just need to buy a Hammer ! PS: All of them have been on Trifexis for at least a year.

Here's the deal: with Comfortis, you are sterilizing fleas - not killing the ones already around. If you don't have an infestation, it should work well. If you already have an infestation, I wouldn't go with that at first. I'd go with Advantix or Frontline. Personally, I'd go with Advantix as it also kills mosquitos. They both kill fleas, ticks, and lice. I used Advantix on previous pets and it worked well.

| Switching Trifexis out for Comfortis would not do anything because the flea adulticide in Trifexis is spinosad (Comfortis). There are lots of reports about spinosad only lasting 3 weeks. Sentinel is the same heartworm med (milbemycin), but a different flea med (lufeneron). Lufeneron does not kill adults, but makes them unable to reproduce. I like using Sentinel and then Frontline PRN.

| Please don't give your babies Trifexis. I lost my sweet girl, Promise, last Wednesday (10/23) due to acute kidney damage that was brought on by that poison. They are just too little for it. Promise was 4 lbs., and I only gave her half a pill every month...but it was enough to shut down her kidneys. I will never, ever get over this. |

| I am having the same problem with everything I use. With 6 adult dogs and 4 pups + living in the country = fleas. It seems that just when I get them under control I start seeing fleas at week 3. I use Frontline, Advantage, Trifexis and recently tried Sentry which I absolutely hate. My vet started my Yorkie out on Combo Guard and same thing. And anything that goes on their backs is a waste of money since bathing literally removes it. We also spray our immediate yard. My Yorkie, Chihuahua and puppies never go outside so they have to be picking up the fleas on the inside. I'm guessing my indoor/outdoor dogs are bringing them in. It's not like my house is infested but even 1 flea grosses me out. Just part of living in Texas I guess???

YT 2000 Club Member | dog I would never use Triflexis. Too powerful. My vet said to use it and I refused. I used Revolution and that worked for my boys. My heart broke when little Promise passed and I bet that drug did that. These little dogs are so fragile. Please do not continue that drug. |

Advantage and Trifexis are adulticides only. Not going to do anything to stop the life cycle. Frontline Plus does, but there are reports of lack of effect in some areas. How about Sentinel and Advantage or Frontline? Advantix 2? Although with Advantix 2 I wouldn't use it unless you have ticks. The permethrin in is isn't the greatest for pups.

YT Addict | I use Trifexis and I have never had any problems with it. Lilly Anne hasn't started taking yet since she doesn't weigh 5 pounds but Ellie weighs 5-5 and a half and she has been taking it for about a year or a little less now. We tried other things but nothing else ever seemed to work.

| The many problems with Trifexis do not show up in most small dogs immediately. It takes months before the poison has done it's work on the fleas AND on the precious little dogs. I do wish you would reconsider. Amazon.com has discontinued carrying it because of the complaints and knowledge that it KILLS Dogs. Trifexis has only been on the market for 3 years...they have no idea the long term complications it will cause. I urge you to go to the Facebook Page "Trifexis Kills DOGS" and read everything. I picked up my precious Promise from the vet yesterday...in a very small urn...and it just about killed me. |
