| Blue Buffalo Frustration I tried several months ago to switch Coco over to Canine Caviar and I bought the Lamb & Pearl Millet. The first couple of times she tried it she gobbled it up. Then she wouldn't touch it. So, we went back to BB Wilderness Duck. She wasn't really eating it all that well so that's why I decided to try the CC. I hung onto the bag of CC instead of shipping it back thinking that maybe I would give it another try later on. I put a small amount in a bowl next to the BB. She ate the CC, but only that time. For the next couple of days I left them both out for her to choose and she went back to BB. But....for the last month she has been picking out the life source bits and leaving them on the floor. She refuses to eat them. Now, I thought that was a big part of what makes it healthy for her. So, I'm wondering if I need to try another brand dog food. She does seem to be picky when it comes to food, but her treats....well she has gobbled up everything I have offered her. BB, Wellness and Fruitables. She loves them. Oh, she is not eating BB Wilderness now she is on BB Life Protection Formula with Fish & Sweet Potato. So, what are your thoughts??? |

| On their website it says: LifeSource Bits help your pet maintain a healthy oxidative balance with their high potency of vitamins and minerals, but rest assured that even if your pet eats around them, he or she is still getting a nutritionally complete diet. Since our kibble also contains fruits and vegetables that have antioxidants, your pet is still obtaining a healthy level of all the nutrients he or she needs, even if he or she eats only the kibble. I'm not quite sure how it's still balanced after leaving out the concentrated forms of the vitamins and minerals but that is what they claim (unless the Life Source Bits are just extra vitamins and minerals that aren't necessary with a complete kibble). I have also found that the bits aren't always evenly distributed in the bag and a lot of times I'll throw out some of the Life Source Bits if I can't mix them in and distribute them evenly. I pour out a week's worth of food into a resealable container that I pull daily meals from and some weeks I'll find hardly any bits and some weeks I'll find waaaaay too many. I do try to mix them up in the bag to redistribute but I don't think I'd want to feed a big bowl primarily comprised of those even though my pups don't pick them out. It seems so common that a lot of dogs eat around the Life Source Bits, I've always wondered why BB doesn't just do away with them. |

YT 2000 Club Member | dog Had my boys on BB. They did not pick out the bits. Their stools were soft which concerned me. Switched them over to wellness. My older dog just threw up all the pieces twice. He is on ID going to the vet. The other dog is eating it. He wants wet food on it though. |

YT 2000 Club Member | When mine were on BB, they ate all of it, even the Life bits. I don't know much about picky eaters. Mine are not picky eaters and will and do eat food that is not always good for them!

| Mine is on BB Freedom and eats it all (eventually), including the bits. Huey is a disinterested eater. He is fed twice a day but sometimes eats and sometimes doesn't. If I put his kibble in a kong toy, he thinks it is treats and he has a blast getting every last piece. Really improves his eating. Maybe try something like that to make the food more fun?

Now that's an idea. I've thought that Coco either didn't like the food she was offered or just disinterested but this maybe her norm. I think her previous owner had her on Eukanuba ???? I forget now but it wasn't a food that I would prefer feeding so anyway I changed her over to RC and then BB Wilderness in the beginning. Then of course tried CC Lamb & Pearl Millet. She is fed twice a day and sometimes eats and sometimes doesn't. Maybe during the day she's just not hungry, I don't know. But, will try your idea and see what happens. | |

| All 3 of mine pick out the bits and leave them. I have heard quite a few people say that as well.

YT 2000 Club Member | dog Just got back from the vet w my Spud. He threw up his food. My vet said he did not like Blue Buffalo when I asked him. I told him I took Spud off that food and now he is on wellness. I bought the turkey base wellness instead of the chicken. Maybe that messed Spud up. Now he is on I.D. diet for a week or 2. Then the chicken wellness. We will see. Researched the BB and did not like what I read. |

| Darla is on BB Life protection for small puppy. She will eat around the life bits too. However when I mix it with her wet in the morning and hot water she eats it all. She's picky on the life bits but she will eventually eat them. They are just not her first choice. |

| Has anyone tried crumbling or mashing a treat mixed in their food? I Did with Zoey on one of her picky days and it worked! She loves Wellness puppy soft bites salmon and lamb, and it only takes a half piece. |
