| Blue Buffalo Hi all I have been feeding my pups Fromm for some time now, but they have now been acting like they are bored with it and are not eating as much and sometimes they do not eat one of their meals. (I feed twice a day) So, I was thinking of trying something different and a friend suggested BB. What are your thoughts on this one? Thanks! |

| A lot of people on here have had great experiences with BB. I just switched to Orijen Regional Red today. I'm so excited because my finicky one actually eats it plain!!

| Just want to add that I feed them 1/4 cup twice a day. Sometimes, I add cottage cheese or plain yogurt and they DO eat when I do that, but I do not want to have to do this all the time. |

The company that owns Blue Buffalo was sold to Procter & Gamble, I believe in late 2010 with an early 2011 confirmation (I can't be sure of exact date). When a company does that it makes me steer clear of them until the new ownership has their own long and reputable history of health with that specific food. Some people love BB and their dogs still do great on it - I for one, won't feed it unless and until I see a very long positive history under the current ownership...and I believe it will decline. If your dogs are seemingly bored with Fromm's perhaps you could simply try a new flavor within Fromm's foods...they have a ton of different flavors and I would recommend them long before I would recommend BB (as it is now). Procter & Gamble also own: IAMS Eukanuba ...neither of which I would even momentarily consider feeding our dogs, for a list of reasons that is too vast to even go into here. They also own the Natura pet foods "family" (used loosely), and many owners feed Natura and their pets do very well on it (just giving the flipside of the coin). The above was based only on my opinion, and my opinion alone. I did not seek the advice of any veterinarian or canine nutritionist, etc. I feed what I believe to be in the best interest of our pets (regardless of who advises otherwise). Whatever you decide, good luck. Not all dogs are the same, so what works for one will not necessarily work for another. | |

| I have been feeding all of my puppies BB for a while now and they love it. I was feeding them Royal Canin before that but they wouldn't eat it after a while but I haven't had a problem with BB. |

| A lot of people here like Blue Buffalo my dog liked it ok but would not eat the wellness bits and would throw them all around and pick them out so I felt like I was throwing have the food away. My extremely picky eater LOVES Now small breed, I am on my third bag and she is not tired of it which is crazy for her.

| Fromm has many different flavors of kibble and most owners are able to switch between them with no issues at all.... maybe try a different flavor before completely switching brands?

| Its not at petsmart and petco but we have a pet value that has it and another locally owned store that has it. So it depends what kind of pet stores you have.

| Re: Blue Buffalo Since I recently had a health scare with Graysee, I have decided to switch from BB to another brand. Graysee exhibited signs of Hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, so the vet took no chances and hospitalized her, and she has been on a prescription diet since returning home. Here is my reply to a question from another member who asked about BB recalls: I did not find any recall data from Blue Buffalo, just a slew of complaints about the food, many as recently as June 2013. I felt it was worthwhile to post a warning, in case a recall materializes, or anyone else has problems. For my little Graysee, she has been on a prescription bland diet for now, and when she's off that, I have purchased a bag of Wellness Core Grain and Gluten-Free small breed kibbles; I'll see how she fares on that, for awhile. I appreciate your concern. If you'll Google "Blue Buffalo dog food complaints", you'll find the data that I discovered. Take good care of your little ones! |
