Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Bordetella ? Yes or No Galen gets very excited and loves treats. He focuses more on the treats then doing the training. I figured I need some help so I want to take Galen for some training. I was told that Rabies, Bordetella and Distemper vaccinations required. He does not have Bordetella and I am not sure if I want to give him it. Has everyone given that to their pups? I

| No for us. We avoid places that require noncore vaccines.

| I get Bordetello confused but isn't that the cannine cough vaccine? If so, Macy and Molly get one every 6 months. My groomer requires this vaccine.

| keylo had it before transport from Louisianna to Maine......she ended up with kennel cough. my latest foster had the vac on May 22nd and was transported with many other dogs on July 9th where we picked her up from Hampton NH and she sneezed all week and had a clear discharge from her nose..i thought it was allergies but all three of mine started with KC the night she left........so for me i say it gives it to them as i asssume they are streessed during transport and their immune system is down. so i guess if they are not going to be stressed and stay in thier usual environment the chances of it protecting instead of contracting is better. jm three cents from personal experience.

| Huey gets it every year. It was nasally administered until this year, when it was an oral liquid. Huey has been boarded in the past, goes to the groomer & out in public and has never contracted kennel cough.

YT 2000 Club Member | dog Do some research and call some vets to get opinions. I do not like to use anything because there is risk. Of course you have to weigh the risk with the benefits. Then say a prayer and make a wise decision.l |

| I follow Dr. Dodd's protocol as best as I can. So after the booster at one year old of DHPP and then rabies on a different day, I won't get any more vaccines for the rest of his life except rabies every 3 years as per the law. He's gotten bordatella 3x in his life for different reasons (I was usually talked into it, or whatever) and I won't ever again, I am so over it. Every time he's gotten some sort of cold, or sniffling, and sneezing, or wheezing, or something from it. And he's gotten kennel cough while supposedly 'protected' from the vaccine. Check out this link: Bordetella Vaccination for Dogs: Fraud and Fallacy | Dogs Naturally Magazine I've done many training classes with Jackson and they've never asked for proof of vaccines. Maybe find another facility.

| I give it to Callie and my mom gives it her yorkie. I have heard how kennel cough can last sometimes even longer then a month and can lead to worse infections. I wont risk it because there are so many owners out there who will take there infected dogs every where.

| Same here. B4 I went to grooming school, the grooming place I took them to never asked for vaccine proof...it's more of a liability for them, like if our dog got sick, it won't be their fault. Momo got kennel cough when he was a puppy when I 1st got him, I think he already had it (runny nose w/clear discharge) & I made it worse by giving him the Bordetella shot. It lasted a long agonizing 3 months & numerous different antibiotics...never again.

| Wanted to add that we have done it in the past, but, after my dog Bareny had KC twice while vaccinated I realized it was a waste of $.

And anway most vets seem to be giving intranasal or oral which is yechnically questionable at best.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Thank you all. I am holistic for myself. I take very little in medication and use herbal remedies instead. Originally I gave Galen only the shots he needed. I had to add Lepto because of where I live. We have way too many wild animals and Galen was being potty trained outside. I refused the bordatella when he first received his puppy shots. You all gave me things to think about. Thank you. Hugs
