Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Radio Show on doggy Prozac Hi all! Tomorrow, Thursday July 11, I will be on BBS Radio, Station1 being interviewed by "Leader of the Pack" hosts Susan Herbert and Mark German. The topic will be one that really inflames my heart: Puppy Prozac. The show is live at 1pm central, and all are welcome to call or email. BBS RADIO Live Talk Radio Station 1 It's a very controversial topic, and I'd love different views on it. Any comments from Yorkie owners? |

| I'm not a huge fan of medicating dogs unless absolutely necessary. Perhaps it's the owner who needs Prozac, not the dog? Seriously though, I'm sure that a lot of doggy psychiatric issues could be resolved with training of both the dog and the owner. Do you think that puppy Prozac is being overprescribed? |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Sorry I missed it. I put one of my yorkies on clomicalm a week ago. Pixie went from a happy, albeit a little high strung dog to a nervous panicky wreck. She went from being afraid of thunder to being afraid of fireworks, the sound of rain, a plane overhead, a loud car or motorcycle going by. She even gets scared when a neighbor rolls in his garbage can. I tried the thunder shirt, 3 different natural calming medicines, remedy rescue and lastly Xanax. Nothing worked. I did not put her on it without much thought and worry. Pixie went from 4.5 lbs to 3.6 lbs. When she wasn't frantic she was on high alert or laying around depressed looking. My husband (RIP) had Harley's her whole life with us and she never reacted to them. I would love to find an alternative to medicating her but for now I can't let her suffer. I have 2 other yorkies who are perfectly calm so I don't think I am doing something wrong. People can judge me for putting her on it but I couldn't let her go on like she was. I will be very interested in the Radio Show about doggy prozac.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | She has been on it 8 days and she seems more relaxed in general. I will know more when we get our next storm. She doesn't seem to be reacting to every loud noise. She still has anxiety attacks a few times a day but they don't last but a minute or two. This is a big improvement. I have even seen a few moments of my old Pixie. Thanks for asking.
