Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I need your help I need your help. Galen's food is California Natural Lamb. It is recalled for a second time. I really hope that the food is not what made him sick. Anyway, I have to come up with a new food. I read tons of past food recommendations threads. I am overwhelmed with the types and what is good for him. Especially he is only 7 months old. This food is going to be a direct change I guess. I really can use some help. Please help Thanks

| Are you just looking for a good replacement or does he have any restrictions?

| I don't know if you can get this near you Pioneer Naturals Dog Food I think I'm going to get this for their next rotation, but keep Turbo on Canine Caviar bc he's intolerant of pumpkin.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | The California Natural Lamb is what the breeder was feeding him. It was great for him but with now two recalls and him being sick I am done with California Natural. So far no restrictions.

| Hope Galen is feeling better. I too hope it wasn't the California Natural that made him sick but it sure is a coincidence. I have used Fromm and Canine Caviar and liked both. Galen is a cutie for sure.

| I am doing the change over right now from California Natural Venison formula to Earthborn Holistic Meadow Feast, it is lamb and grain free also 5 star rating on Dog Food Advisor. Jada has allergies and I have my fingers crossed this formula agrees with her. The two foods she thrived on have had recalls(Natural Balance and California Natural) I wish dog food companies would have better controls and testing in place..all these recalls are just plain disturbing.

| I would choose the company first. Feeding trials, veterinary nutritionists on staff, qc procedures, contributions to veterinary science/nutrition, etc. With that in mind I'd see if he'd tolerate RC small breed puppy.

| I used California Naturals for a while Last summer I switched Teddy to California Naturals because I thought it would be better for him, he started having digestive problems right away (I didn't switch him all at once) and then he started itching constantly etc. He developed sores under both of his eyes too. We made 5 trips to the vet in two weeks, it was really scary. When I researched California Naturals what I read was that Proctor and Gamble had bought the company (which had a great reputation) and changed the formulation. If you google it you will find many people whose dogs had terrible digestive problems after P and G bought the company, although their dogs had been on the same formula the entire time. I fed Teddy rice and homemade chicken for a few days, and then I switched him to Flint River, which I have had no problems with. He is doing great now, but it really made me want to start a dog food company! Sorry for the long post. I hope your baby feels fetter soon. |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Thank you so much. Because I have to switch him directly without any food mix I am so worried he will have problems. This whole problem is worse by the fact that my cats also eat California Natural grain free. They are hopefully will not have a problem too. Sometimes I wonder. We do so much research for the best food and we get recalls.

| I am by no means an expert in the feeding area. But I am currently feeding Nature's Variety kibble with the freeze dried raw pieces. I add weruva chicken or Kobe beef canned to moisten the kibble. I top it off with a little Stella and Chewy's freeze dried. Sounds like a bunch, but it really isn't and it seems to be working pretty well. Lately, I have been adding a bit of squash. She loves that!I don't think any of these have had recalls. So I wonder sometimes if there is a recall on one of these, maybe I could continue feeding the others without too many complications? |

| I have nothing to add really, but wanted to wish you luck in finding something your little one will thrive on.
