| Trowing up gastric juice Hi everyone, I have a question about a concern that has been going on for years now... Nena (my 4 year old morkie) trows up 'gastric juice'. It's a white/yellowish fluid and it stinks horribly (she tries to clean it with her muzzle and it makes things worse!! She stinks and her bed stinks!!). She has been doing this since we first got her basically. We have told the vet but they never seem to know what she has. 3 vets has seen her and have prescribed medicine over the years but nothing seems to help. She can go weeks even month without trowing up but then she can do it several times a week. It varies all the time. First we thought it was the food and we changed it. She got better but then she started again. Every time we change something it seems as if it helps but then it happens again. So I was wondering if maybe someone has experience or if there is something homemade I can do that may help. Thank you very much

| Mine does that when she hasn't eaten in a long time. Sounds like yours is a finicky eater? I think it's stomach acid. Uni hasn't done it in a while, but before if I got so busy I would forget to feed her she would do the same. After I fed her she was fine. But if she's not wanting to eat bc of it, I don't know. Poor baby.

| Yeah It bothers me because I feel useless, I don't know what to do to make her feel better. And it annoys me that I've went so many times to the vet, sometimes more than one visit a week and still they don't know what it is. Both Nena and Rufus eats twice a day and more or less at the same time everyday and in between they get treats. Nena doesn't eats on the day her tummy is acting up but the day before and the day after it's like nothing happened. She eats normally and becomes active again..

| Turbo had this problem. He was throwing up yellow bile even when he had a full stomach! Like you, our vet couldn't figure out why...just told me to give him a snack b4 bedtime & split his meals in 3 small meals. Also, vet said that dogs anticipate meal times & produce the bile in their stomach, so give them their meals in time & make it a routine schedule...bc we all know they can tell time loll! So I split his meals into 3 & gave him bedtime snacks, but he still kept throwing up bile, even w/food sometimes! I even had him tested for liver function (BATS), diabetes, thyroid & even had x-rays done to see if he had any obstruction, even when the vet said he's ok. I had to request these tests bc they vet didn't see the need to. Guess what it was? Turbo is intolerant of pumpkin (he's also can't have beef or eggs)! When dogs are intolerant of a certain food(s), they throw up. I was giving them fruitables (main ingredient is pumpkin) as a snack b4 bedtime & mid-day snack. I also gave them pumpkin made especially for dogs that came in a can mixed w/their kibble. I felt so bad for making him sick, but was so thankful that I finally figured out what was ailing him. I suggest you keep a mental diary or an actual diary of what he ate when he does throw up. Make sure there are no underlying medical causes 1st. Hope you'll find answers soon & sawwie this was sooo long!

| Don't be sorry, thanks for the information!! Which test can I do in order to find out if she is allergic to a certain kind of food? Maybe there is something in her kibble that she can't eat

| And yes, as you felt about the vet not seeing the need to test, the same way I've been feeling about the vets that have seen Nena..

What are you giving as treats? They can be intolerant of a certain protein too. Has she had a full panel blood test done? Was everything in normal limits?

If yes, she had that test done last year june when the vet gave her a dental cleaning, everything was normal. As treads we give her pedrigree biscuits and other small tread made out of meat, chicken, lamb and fish. I have the names in dutch so it won't be of much help. The picture shows the treads.

I would also stop all store bought treats. Give them thawed frozen green beans or plain boiled chicken breast instead.

| She has never had a urinanalysis. I will check with the vet how much everything will cost and see if the insurance covers it. Thanks for your help

| YVM, hope everything turns out ok. Urinalysis doesn't cost much, it's about $35+ & some vets charges more, mine charges $45 (here in LA, everything is more expensive loll, don't even let me get started on the taxes!). The full panel blood test will also vary, mine charges $140, so expect to spend around $200/-. Remember, stop those store bought treats!

| Stop the treats 1st, bc if she does stop throwing up, you'll save the $200 & you'll find out why she's been throwing up!
