| Dehydrated chicken livers I bought some chicken livers and put them in my dehydrator. They turned out pretty good (nothing I would like to taste test though) and I think my girls will like them. My question is, does anyone have any idea how much they can eat a day? I won't go overboard feeding them these treats but I would like to give a piece about the size of your little fingernail after each potty. Am I overdoing it with about 6 or 7 treats this size a day?

| Do you give 6-7 fingernail sizes every day? If so, I think that may be a lot. I'm no vet and have no vet (tech) experience, so maybe one of our more experienced members can chime in, but I personally give dehydrated livers more as an occasional treat and stick with dehydrated meats rather than daily liver treats. Liver is really rich and can cause diarrhea. So just watch out that for.

| Thanks, that is what I kind of thought too. I just made them today and gave them a fingernail size each for a potty. I thought they may be a little rich so that is why I am thinking not to over do it. I had to buy a half pound of livers so I will probably freeze some and throw the rest away because I don't want to mess with freezing a bunch of livers. Don't want to cause diarrhea.

| You can freeze the livers for a while, but I would dehydrate them first. Otherwise they'll get icky when you thaw them out.

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Just chiming in to say oh how I love chicken livers. Im eating some Lee's liver & gizzards right now !!! I too think that is a bit much, you could try a cheerio after potty time if you looking for a way to reward her.

| I dehydrated the entire container so I'll pick out the pieces that turned out good, freeze most of those and throw the rest away. They have been in the dehydrator since about 8:00 AM and some of them still aren't done. The girls sat in the kitchen under the counter where the dehydrator was sitting just sniffing the air most of the day today. I don't like livers and gizzards so the smell was kind of turning my stomach all day.

| I like gizzards bit liver Yuck! Unless its foie gras, and that is illegal in CA now. I agree a bit is fine but 6-7 nail sized PCs might be much. If their poop gets soft then you know its too much. |
