| Probiotic dosage I'm using dr beckers complete probiotic miracle. The directions say up up to 15 pounds 1/2 scoop. Should I be giving 1/2 scoop or adjust it to her weight. She's three pounds. I would say one scoop is 1 tbsp. which seems like a lot for a little dog. I called customer service and haven't heard back yet. Any suggestions? I've been giving 1/4th teaspoon. |

| She has had bad cases of colitis. Diarrhea off and on since December. She's on metronidazole right now. |

| I'm sorry to hear that. Usually getting to the bottom of the medical reason for the chronic diarrhea is more effective. I don't really buy into probiotics, so I can't help you, but I hope your dog feels better soon. I have a dog with IBD so I know how stressful diarrhea issues can be. Hopefully your vet has ruled out giardia and also done blood work to make sure there are no other issues.

| Yeah we've had all the blood work and tests done. Even exploratory surgery. No answers just colitis is what the say. She's also diagnosed with hge. They tested for liver shunt, Addison's, bid, pancreatitis, giardiasis. She's been dewormed. I asked them to check for yeast and both vets looked at me like I was crazy lol. She's been on antibiotics so long a rather be safe then sorry. Think ill demand they test next time I go. She gets bad yeast ear infections, chews her feet, gets little brown dots on her belly that go away with a medicated bath. |

| Gosh she sounds like my Daisy. I had success with a veterinary dermatologist who put her on atopica and a vet nutritionist who made a diet for her.

| After trying several foods and different proteins, I found canine caviar venison has worked pretty good for her this last year. Her eyes cleared up a lot after switching to that. I now never use toxic cleaning products, clean the sheets in fragrance free detergent, vacuum every other day, weekly baths with earthborn tea tree oil aloe wash. I even wash her toys and bedding weekly. The probiotics seem to help her belly some but 1 tsp daily for a three pound yorkie seems like a lot. I was just worried because a fifteen pound dog can have the same. So I'm a little confused on what to give. Thanks for the responses! I appreciate any advice I can get! |

| I don't know about daily dosage, but probiotics have helped Katie when her stomach is upset. I don't think she should be talking her Flagyl at the same time as the probiotic because it will also kill the healthy bacteria at the same time. If you separate the doses, they should be fine.

| Thanks! Great advice! I guess I was just wondering what other people would do if it said up to 15 pounds. It's so hard when they barely weigh three pounds! |
