| Board certified or regular vet for cleaning? I just read a post that suggested using a board cerfied vet for cleaning instead of a regular vet. I googled vets in GA that were board certified, and there appears to be only one...http://veterinarydentistry.net/ This vet travels all over the place, with his primary office in FL. I'm concerned about that. Did you go to a board certified or regular vet for your baby's dental care. What led you to that decision?

| I went to bd certified because my dog is a high risk for anesthesia. I liked the service so much that I bring all my dogs there now.

| Our regular vet cleaned my mom Yorkie Sammy's teeth and they have an amazing protocol so we had no problems with it and she would have done Callie's too but Callie had broken her tooth and had to have a root canal so she went to the dental specialist. I think if your vet has good protocol and you are comfortable with you vet I don't see why you regular vet can't do it.

| I use my regular vet. I have been using him for over 25 years and have never had an issue with anything he does.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I would go to our regular vet unless there was an extenuating circumstance.

| I get Peanut’s dentals at our regular Vet… usually the Vet doesn't do the cleanings. They will jump on and do any extractions, but other than that it is the Vet Tech that takes care of the cleaning.

| Mine have them at our regular Vet. If the Vet feels a need for specialist, we have one just up the road. Thank Heavens, but so far haven't had need for a specialist.

| Whatever you prefer.. If it is just a cleaning I would never even consider a BC vet for it unless the pup is highrisk. If your get does not haedental xray then yes, it is est to go somewhere that does. Or if the procedures likely needed are not something your get does often... If I thought my get couldn't handlea dental with some common extractions I'd run far, far away.
