| Kennel cough getting worse I know the kennel cough subject has been covered but Pita's is getting worse and not better, I've had her to the vet and he put her on Amoxicillin she's been on the Cephalaxin(sp) and I give her Robitussin at night. I think I messed up and let them give her a rabies shot last week when she was almost all better and now she's been worse ever since. Do any of you have experience with this? I know it's hard to get rid of but I never thought it would get worse! She also has an ear infection do you think that contributes to the cough? Thanks, Jennifer & Pita |

| My story exactly. I hope you get some good advice so I can use it! Oh.. just thought I'd note -- if you have ear drops for Pita, make sure you wipe gently around the outer ear before you use them. I think I made his worse because I didn't check carefully for the brown junk that comes along w/ ear infections Good luck. My pup is on the same meds along w/ Robitussin for his cough/ear

| Listen, Gracie has been fighting this for almost 2 months now! She's been on Amoxicillin, Cephalexin and now Baytril. She really only coughs now when she gets up in the mornings. We jokingly call it Smoker's Cough because she sounds like she is trying to hack something up! She's not congested like she used to be, so she's not taking Robitussin right now. My vet said that in dogs this small kennel cough can hang on for several months. He's checked her lungs and stuff and she's fine there, so we're just hanging in there and waiting. Last week she started with the runny nose and eyes again, and no appetite AT ALL, I basically had to force feed her! And the vet diagnosed her with tonsillitis that time (thus the reason she's on Baytril now) in addition to the remnants of kennel cough that she has. I could feel her swollen tonsils, but they've obviously gone down now. Just hang in there, Gracie would get better then worse then better then worse, it's been a constant up and down for two months. Right now she's better than she has been the entire time so I'm hopeful she is finally kicking it!

| My Pookie has the same thing. When we first got him he started off with just a little runny nose. We took him to the vet and she gave him Clavamox, and he's been on it for about two weeks. Then he started sneezing, and now it sounds like he's choking or trying to hawk something out of his throat. But as I have read, it's just going to take time for the puppies to heal from kennel cough. Hope your puppies get better! Brenda & Pookie |

| Gracie is still hacking in the mornings when she gets up but that's really the only time she does it. Once in a while during the day she'll cough but basically it's a morning thing!
